SSF PreviewVer (2019/08/18) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.
SSF Changelog:
Updated for both Windows and Android
For the Windows version, just change LLVM to 8.0.1
The Android version was compatible with OpenGL ES 3.1, but the shader version was 3.2, so it was modified to 3.1
I also made it work on Android 6.0

Shadowrun by Sega Genesis, is an action and RPG game based on the popular PnP role-playing game Shadowrun. This series combines the classic fantastic elements of role-playing games with cyberpunk element, mixing magic with the matrix, achieving a unique gameplay.
There are two versions of Shadowrun in the 16 bit generation, which as it is easy to deduce, are the 1993 Nintendo version and the 1994 SEGA version. The main difference between both productions, is that the SEGA version delves more into the Shadowrun universe, allowing a nonlinear free-style gameplay with a narrative more typical of a role-playing game. Also, it offers the opportunity to test some the characteristics features of the franchise such as forming a team with different archetypes, buying and accessorize firearms, make a powerful spell book, installing cybernetic improvements called cyberwear on your characters, hacking the matrix with a fully upgrade cyberdeck, and above all, the great opportunity to realize a Shadowrun!
There is nothing wrong with the Nintendo version, but if you are a fan of RPGs you probably want to try the SEGA version.
Some flaws that some people mention in the original version of Sega are that some missions can be somewhat repetitive, and the punishing difficulty for the reason that it is not easy to progress in the game, since the money and experience points rewards are low; also the combat can be sometimes difficult since, although there is a very decent arsenal, in practice it is reduced to one or two useful weapons.
The main objective of this new hack, Shadowrun 2058, is to eliminate these drawbacks and at the same time get closer to the original rules of Shadowrun second edition, which is the generation on which this game is based. Some of the improvements offered by this new installment are: better rewards for fulfilled missions, total review of weapons and armor allowing more fluid and less frustrating combats, cheaper and more accessible objects and improvements, and many other improvements detailed in the project page.
If you ever played Shadowrun and you didn’t like it because of the aforementioned flaws, or maybe you really liked but you expected some things to improve, the hack developer hope you give it a second chance and now you enjoy a more complete experience this time you run in the shadows!

In celebration of the Sega Genesis turning 30 years old, today, Sega has uploaded a new trailer for the upcoming Genesis Mini. This is no normal trailer, though, as it takes the retro "Genesis Does" commercial from the early 90s, and remixes it to fit the modern re-release. You won't hear the classic "Nintendon't", but you will see the Genesis Mini, and some of the games it'll offer, when it launches on September 19th in North America, and October 4th, for the Mega Drive Mini variant.

Ys Net is once again under fire from its Kickstarter backers after it has emerged that donors will not be entitled to the bonus content added for Shenmue III's upcoming launch.
In a comment under the latest update on the Kickstarter page, backer Antonio Miranda claims that he received an email from the Shenmue III team confirming that those who helped fund the project will not be entitled to certain content.
In particular, the season pass for future DLC and additional content included in the deluxe edition will not automatically be sent to backers, but they can be purchased separately (in the case of the latter, players would likely have to purchase the deluxe edition).
Meanwhile, several retailers are offering pre-order content, including a new outfit and training scroll, and these will not be available to Kickstarter backers either.
GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Ys Net for confirmation.
"Standard and deluxe versions released through retail sales are not affiliated with the crowdfunding campaign," the Shenmue team wrote, according to Miranda.
The email then points out that both Kickstarter and Slacker Backer pledgers will receive their own editions, each with unique content not available in the retail editions.

Kickstarter backers of Shenmue 3 will be able to get a refund if they requested the PC version of the game, due to Ys Net and Deep Silver agreeing an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store.
Developer Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver announced that Shenmue 3 would be a timed Epic Games Store exclusive at the start of June -- long after a Kickstarter campaign had raised money with the promise of availability on Steam.
Before now, it wasn't clear whether backers insistent on a Steam version would be able to claim a refund, but Ys Net has now confirmed that refunds will be available in most circumstances.
At the time of launch, Kickstarter backers of the game will only receive Epic Games Store keys. Ys Net will allow those backers to switch to the PlayStation 4 version, or wait a year for the timed exclusivity period to expire.
However, Ys Net, Deep Silver and Epic have all agreed that "refund requests will be honoured" for PC backers who don't want to switch to console or wait for the game to hit Steam.
"In response to backers who have requested Steam keys for their rewards, we discussed offering the keys on the day of release," Ys Net said in an update on Shenmue 3's Kickstarter page.
"However, coordination with the sales policies of the involved companies was untenable, and as a result we are not able to make a day one distribution option for Steam keys available.

Sega is not embracing the new era of streaming so much as giving it an affectionate side hug.
When Stadia launches in November, one of its launch window titles will be Sega's Football Manager. It's not necessarily the best showcase for streaming's ability to enable demanding games to run on under-powered devices, but it is a first step into a new era of on-demand streaming that Sega sees full of potential, as Sega Europe COO and president Gary Dale, executive vice president of publishing John Clark, and VP of marketing Anna Downing explain to GamesIndustry.biz during last week's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
"The thought of people on low-end laptops being able to play games like Football Manager and Total War is something we really embrace and support, so we're really interested to see how all the players push forward with significant streaming announcements and services," Clark says. "I think bandwidth is a very important thing, just to see how the services function. So we'll look at Google Stadia's rollout with a lot of interest to see how that maps out. And for the future, we're all interested to see how economies of streaming are going to work, the business models, etc.
"At this point, streaming and cloud have been around for a long time. We worked in the old days with Gaikai and OnLive, and we've worked with PlayStation Now since. But it really seems like this is an interesting time for bigger players to come through and make a significant impact."

Sega's publishing rights for Alpha Protocol have now expired, resulting in the game's removal from Steam.
Eurogamer noticed that the Steam page for Obsidian Entertainment's spy-themed RPG featured the following statement from Sega, which published the game in May 2010.
"Notice: At the request of the publisher, Alpha Protocol is no longer available for sale on Steam."
A spokesperson for Sega clarified that the withdrawal of Alpha Protocol was due to the expiration of the company's publishing rights, putting the game back in the hands of Obsidian Entertainment.
