This isnt news but it is of interest to Dreamcast Fans, heres what was posted on our forums:[br][br] Just recently version 1.7 WIP beta has been released on PC.. but more interestingly, Felix (admin) one of the main guys behind FreeDo has mentioned on the boards that DC is very capable of emulating 3DO!! [br] [br]Quote from him: - [br] [br]Re: Freedo for Dreamcast? [br]« Reply #17 on: September 21st, 2004, 10:40pm » [br] [br]------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- [br]"guys, just to stop this flame. Freedo can run on DreamCast with full speed. Dreamcast and 3do has more similarities than PC and 3do -- in PC CPU is important part and emulates virtually everything. BUT!!! in dream cast -- CPU can emulate ARM very fast, DSP can emulate DSP of 3do very fast too, and what's important -- w/o resources of CPU. Also PVR2 is probably the only 3d processor which can virtually be used as CEL engine. [br] [br]BUT!!! All this with ONE condition -- somebody need to code all this." [br] [br][br]If thats so, then i wonder if the source to Freedo was available and if someone could take the challenge on. Its very interesting news.[br][br]Heres the Freedo link --> http://www.freedo.org/[br][br]Continue this discussion Here

GBAx.com have today posted a review of the Sega licenced consoles with tons of games built in that are made in Brazil, the consoles which are a Megadrive with 60 games, a Master System with 105 games and a Master System Handheld console with 27 games are made by Tectoy, heres part of the review:[br][br] I've wanted to get my hands on these consoles for well over a year and finally this week they arrived fresh from Brazil after much bribery and corruption. Well it more invoved using babblefish to help with my Portugese. Anyhow, unique white Sega systems with 27, 60 and 105 commercial licenced games built in? How come only South America gets such goodness? [br][br]The power supply is built into the unit so any plug adaptor will work, so no need for a step down converter and the AV cables come supplied. The systems are the nice 60hz versions so the games run faster and smoother, the best way. The Sega Handy console uses 4 AA batteries and is SMS/GG technology. The Megadrive/Genesis is based on the Genesis3 edition but its a white/grey color with the TecToy and Sega logo on it, the SMS is based on the SMS 2 model and again is white, both come with 2 Megadrive 6 button pads which are grey. [br][br]Read the full review of these rather cool sounding consoles at GBAx.com

DCHelp has updated the tutorial explaining what to do with CDI and NRG images. The tutorial now includes information on mounting the image with Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools. In addition, we finally added information on how to burn images with Alcohol 120%. This really is a fantastic tutorial for anyone wondering what to do with pre-made CDI or NRG images.[br][br]In addition, we have uploaded three new, simple tutorials. They cover the following subjects:[br]How Do I Use Selfboot?[br]How Do I Use Dir2Boot?[br]How Do I Use DSSBS Final?[br][br]All of these tutorials can be found on DCHelp. More tutorials and updates will be coming soon.

Been a quiet few weeks in the scene with a few notable exceptions,is this the calm before the storm?, well come Xmas we should see some Major developments if all the work going on in secret comes to be released, can i divulge?[br][br]No i cant and wont but you should all be smiling soon enough, we also have the ongoing Dream Coding Grand Prix contests which should provide some new homebrew for our scene.[br][br]Hopefully the V2 of our site will come soon (well as soon as LyonHrt returns :P), we are going to open a Dev.dcemu.co.uk which will be ran by the coders for the coders and will feature source codes to every Dreamcast project that has released them.[br][br]On the comercial Dreamcast front, Chaos Field is coming in a few weeks so lots of interest there.[br][br]Some sad news this week from the Spanish side of the scene, apparently MadriDC has closed its doors, does this mean no more UAE4all/DCaSTaway?, more to come on this subject.

Ive got an idea so bear with me while i explain my intentions.[br][br]We has all the coders that visit here know a Private Developers forum that only coders/staff can see and visit for talk of private work etc.[br][br]Now our friends at GP32 Extreme have a Public Beta Testing forum where basically you use the public as testers with no guarentees that stuff will work but if it does then youll be very lucky to sample games etc early.[br][br]This doesnt have to be a Dreamcast only Beta forum but there will be rules made up if the idea seems ok by you the visitors to DCEmu and its Multiple site forum.[br][br]So my question. Would a Public Beta Testing Forum be wanted?[br][br]Let me know in the comments

Tyne has updated his awesome Quake Mod for the Dreamcast and PC, heres whats new:[br][br]- Vigil is now able to latch onto flat walls and either do a fast jump kick off or jump higher in the opposite direction allowing for verticle tunnel jumping like Ninja Gaiden. [br]- Lightning Storm has been rebalanced once more. [br]- New special effects! Slow motion has been added (doesn't interfere with gameplay, untested on Dreamcast), and 3D shadow trails to certain moves, particle effects. [br]- RPG Stats, leveling up is now included in the gameplay. Leveling up increases Vigil's health and mana. [br]- Death bug has been eliminated, I've tested it over a jagillion times and I could not reproduce it. [br]- "Tweaked" 2D sprites and some graphics/animation. [br]- Gameplay Demo is no longer ran and boots directly to the title screen, however you can still load it up manually. [br]- Vigil's starting health have been altered down to 75 in order to work better with the leveling up system. [br]- Mana is now capped according to your level! [br]- New additional sound effects and animations. [br]- Vigil can now properly descend stairs without "twitching", climbing stairs has been drastically improved but does the odd animation twitch rarely. [br]- Monsters now wake up when attacked with a spell if they hadn't noticed you before-hand. [br]- Due to additional movement code to help Vigil climb stairs properly he now also begins to slow down near ledges, I'm kinda fond of it since it will help prevent you from falling down a pit (when they're added). [br][br]Most likely there's a few other changes/fixes/tweaks here undocumented, this version really changes the gameplay. Please give me input on the RPG Stats and new implemented features.[br][br]Download from Here
