Yakuza spin-off Judgement sold roughly 97% of its stock following the announcement that the game would be pulled from shelves in Japan.
Publisher Sega confirmed it would halt sales of the game after it was revealed that voice actor and character model Pierre Taki was arrested on drug charges.
Speaking on the latest (translation via Gematsu), chief creative officer Toshihiro Nagoshi said: "I'm bummed that it sold like there was a last-minute surge in demand.
"It reached number three on Amazon's sales rankings. But I did kind of think, "Why didn't you just buy from the start?" Of course I'm glad in any case."
The decision to pull Judgement was taken "fairly quickly" said Nagoshi, who conceded there was "no correct way to deal with the situation."

Yakuza spin-off Judgment has been pulled from shelves in Japan after one of its performers was arrested over allegedly using cocaine.
In a statement, Sega said that "for the time being" it will halt both digital and retail sales of the game while it confirms the facts and decides what how to proceed. The publisher apologies for any inconvenience to its customers and partners.
The decision follows the arrest of Pierre Taki -- who plays a character in Judgment -- as reported by Japanese news site Mainichi, spotted by Kotaku. The 51-year-old actor admitted to using a small amount of cocaine, the penalty for which can be up to seven years in prison.
Authorities searched his car and home last night but, according to Nippon, found no cocaine. However, Taki's urine sample tested positive for cocaine after his arrest.
Judgment was released back in December, with a localised version due to launch in the West this June. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Sega to find out if these plans have been affected.
Kotaku notes that the publisher has even started deleting tweets about Judgment while it considers its next move.
In addition to his role in Judgment, Taki is also the Japanese voice of Olaf from Disney's Frozen -- a character he most recently played in Kingdom Hearts III. There is currently no word on whether Square Enix is planning a similar cessation of sales.

This week marks a special occasion. With this final issue, we now have the full set of 37 issues of the Official Sega Saturn Magazine online and available for download.
So let's jump back in time to November of 1997 and relive the glory days of the Sega Saturn together.
As our first preview, we have the review for Bust-A-Move 3 by Taito, followed by Street Fighter Collection by Capcom. We then take a look at the showcase for Quake by Lobotomy Software Inc. as well as Silhouette Mirage by none other than Treasure. And Finally Steep Slope Sliders by Cave, before we finish off with a big interview with Lobotomy Software.
You might also notice that the downloads for this issue as well as most of magazines on this page are downloading a lightning fast speed now.
That's because I've decided to buy a different hosting package for these magazines to make it a lot easier to download them as the previous one has become super slow over the years.
I'm in the middle of recompiling all the older issues and uploading these to the new host as well, but this will take quite a bit of time, so please bear with me.
Enjoy!

We jump back in time 22 years and dive into the world of the Sega Saturn with the remastered edition of issue 14 of the Official Sega Saturn Magazine from December of 1996.
I've gone over each page one last time and corrected issues, big and small wherever they popped up. So this magazine looks the best it has ever done.
We start of with a feature on the incredible Christmas NiGHTS, then move on to an in-depth showcase for Virtua Cop 2. After all this we have not one, but two interviews. The first one is with Lobotomy Software on Exhumed, while the second one talks to Sega AM#3 about the Saturn conversion of Virtual On. And finally we look at two reviews: Daytona USA CCE and Virtua Cop 2.
Enjoy!

Not wanting to rest on one's laurels, we're already back with yet another brand new release. This makes it 7 full magazines in just under 8 weeks time. I don't think we've ever had such a busy release schedule.
Now let's take a look at some preview articles.
We begin with an underrated arcade racer by Kalisto Entertainmant: 4 Wheel Thunder.
Then continue on to Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future. And finaly, we have four different fighting games. The first one being Dead or Alive 2 by Tecmo.
While the other 3 are all by Capcom. Namely Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter III: Double Impact, and Tech Romancer.

A Japanese to American English translation patch has been released for a Game Gear RPG called Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible. The project was a collaboration between Supper (the hacker) and Tom (the translator).
The game, a remake, expands on the contents of the original version (which was released for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color). The Game Gear version has a more fleshed-out story, revised events, and two different endings.
The hack adds a variable width font and small pauses at punctuation. (For those who prefer not to have pausing at punctuation, it is possible to disable this feature through an in-game menu.)
The patch is available in both .bps and .ips format. The patch is not compatible with Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special on the Game Gear or the Gameboy and Gameboy Color versions of the game.

Back again this week with something a bit special.
People who have been with us from the very first days, might recognise that this will be the 4th time that I release this very issue. The first time would have been around 2005 when I first started scanning magazines. Then in 2010 I did a brand new scan of this issue for my very own site, the one you are looking at right now. And then in 2016, I attempted to update that version and bring it in line with the newer issues I had worked on.
Well, over the past 14 years, I have learned a lot of lessons. What to do and what to avoid when restoring classic magazines. So with better hardware, as well as with a better understanding and much improved editing techniques, I decided it was time to look at these older issues once more and give them another shot.
These will be the definitive edition of these digital renditions. They will look a bit sharper, have a lot more detail, especially in darker sections, have less intrusive editing techniques used, have better colour values, and overall, look a lot closer to the physical magazines.
As I return to these previously scanned issues and redo them from start to finish, I will make them as (RESCAN) in the news title. You will also be able to notice the difference on the catalogue page, as there will be a Max-Rez and Portable version available. The content section will have the coloured dots background instead of the old swirls as well.
There will be a handful of issues that I will be releasing as (REMASTERED) editions. These are magazines that have been done with the new scanner and techniques already, but that I feel could use a closer look.
All the other issues ( from 2013 and before) will be rescanned as time goes by, while I continue working on new releases.
With all that said, I'm proud to present you once more, with the very first issue of the incredible Official Sega Saturn Magazine.
Enjoy!

A full French translation of Phantasy Star IV is now available.
Phantasy Star IV is a role-playing game for the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive platform. It’s the final chapter of the “classic” Phantasy Star series. It’s in the opinion of the translators an excellent RPG, on par with the later Final Fantasy episodes on the SNES.
The setting is a mixture of medieval and futuristic technology, combining fully self-aware androids and computers with sword and magic spells and techniques. The player will need all those things to save their solar system from ultimate evil.
Those interested in this translation should note that this is not a “literal” translation. The translators worked hard to give the French localization its own feel, and make the character’s personalities come forward as much as possible. They believe that it remains true to the spirit of the characters, and they were very careful not to actually change the intent of the English script.
BGE started this project in March 2018. He stumbled upon lory1990’s disassembly, which was the spark that ignited the project, since it made editing the script relatively straightforward and resizing windows straightforward. The initial script translation was completed, full of typos and with some awkward phrasing, by early June, but then, life interfered and the project stalled.
galletteuh expressed interest translating this game in French on the RHDN forums in October, unaware of the existing translation since BGE hadn’t announced it. He started to work on it independently, also starting off from lory1900’s disassembly.
mziab tipped off BGE about galletteuh’s intent, so communication was established. galletteuh selflessly decided to use BGE’s work as base since it was fully translated already, and the translation team was formed.
galletteuh reviewed and corrected the whole script (twice!) amazingly quickly, played through the game (twice, again!) for final QA, fixed tons and tons of typos, and provided more natural phrasing across the board. He also fixed a few font issues. The energy of having an additional team member was immediately tangible: BGE cracked down on an elusive window width problem, and that success brought him the confidence needed to fix a bunch of cosmetic issues that required changing the game engine’s code.

BlastEm v0.6.1 is released. BlastEm has the goal of being an extremely accurate Genesis emulator while still running on relatively modest hardware by using advanced techniques. Currently it meets neither my accuracy nor performance goals, but those goals are pretty high. Speed and accuracy should be sufficient for most purposes. It runs at full speed on an old first generation Intel Atom and can run Sonic 2 at around 600 fps on a Haswell desktop using a single core. To my knowledge, it is the only emulator besides Genesis Plus GX that can properly display the "TITAN 512C FOREVER" portion of Titan's Overdrive demo, and the only emulator besides Exodus that passes all 122 of the tests in Nemesis' VDP FIFO Testing ROM and can properly display "Direct Color DMA" demos.
BlastEm Features:
* savestates
* integrated debugger
* GDB remote debugging
* joystick/gamepad support
* Mega/Sega Mouse support
* save RAM and EEPROM support
* Sonic & Knuckles lock-on
* turbo and slow modes
* configurable low pass filter
* single pass GLSL shaders (though there are no interesting ones presently)

At the tail end of 2018, Psyklax, Filler, and FlashPV released an English language translation patch for Crayon Shin-Chan - Taiketsu! Kantamu Panikku!! as “Crayon Shin-Chan: Showdown! Quantum Panic!!” for the Game Gear. Shin-chan’s Mommy wants to win tickets to a spa, and enrolls Shin-chan in the Quantum Battle held at Action Dept. Store. Play and win a series of mini-games to take the grand prize in the Quantum Battle and make Mommy’s dreams come true!
Filler dumped and translated the script as part of an effort to dump and translate scripts for all remaining Game Gear games that don’t have official or unofficial translations. Psyklax rose to the unexpected challenge of cracking the game’s compression routine in his first real hack of the Master System/Game Gear. FlashPV provided a title screen design via Twitter which Psyklax drew and implemented utilizing the aforementioned compression routine.
See the related project link.
Also, earlier in the month Psyklax updated the English language translation patch for Sherlock Holmes: The Kidnapped Countess on the Famicom to fix an issue where the clue given when inputting the correct password in Edinburgh had been mistranslated, missing a vital ‘0′. Without this correct clue, the final password is almost impossible to figure out without a spoiler. Therefore, the line was replaced by the correct one.
The updated patch is available here: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/3474/
Finally, for those of you interested in enjoying Psyklax and Filler’s English language translation patch of SWAT: Special Weapons and Tactics for the Famicom, you’ll want to check out GAFF Translations’ SWAT Out-Of-Bounds Fix. This hack fixes two bugs related to the inability to complete a level due to missing enemies, one of which appears to be the cause of most of the issue, and the other being specific to an enemy on Floor 6. You may want to utilize the fast forward feature of your favorite emulator to speed up the slow text speed, but between the translation patch and bug-fix hack the game should be playable.

An English translation patch for the Game Gear strategy/fighting game Godzilla: Kaijuu Daishingeki (Godzilla: Monsters Attack) has been released, opening all-new avenues for players to live out their fantasies of flattening Tokyo. Or protecting it, for the weirdos.
Godzilla: Monsters Attack is a half-strategy, half-one-on-one fighting game in which the player can play as either Godzilla and friends (trying to achieve certain city destruction quotas) or the JSDF (desperately struggling to prevent it). Unit movement plays out in a turn-based top-down view, while combat is real-time and action-based. The game features five scenarios loosely modeled on various Godzilla films.
This patch was the work of TheMajinZenki (translation), Supper (hacking), cccmar (editing and testing), Xanathis (testing), and Filler (initial script dump). Enjoy!

Today aishsha, paul_met and Pennywise present a completed Sega Saturn translation for Linkle Liver Story.
The translation began last year and has now finally seen a release with hacking by paul_met, translation by aishsha and the script editing by Pennywise. It is complete and should be issue free.
At its heart the game is just a simple Action RPG and features nice 2D graphics, a cute and charming story that is now fully translated, a rarity for the Sega Saturn.
The team would like to note that they never figured out the meaning of the title Linkle Liver. The best guess was that it was just some cute marketing ploy, but the game makes no mention of such text in the game or in the manual, which they have graciously translated as well. Maybe one day…
Special thanks to FlashPV and Lestat for the new title logo and Xanathis and cccmar for testing.
Expect more good things to come.

This time we go back to February of 1993 with issue 5 of Mean Machines Sega.
We start of with three Game Gear games: Batman Returns, Defender of Oasis and Alien 3. Then we take a look at to Mega Drive port of a NES classic by Rare: Championship Pro-AM. After this, we take a look at an often forgotten strategy gem by Koei, called Gemfire.
