Crystals of Xaz is a Dreamcast and Gamepark game written using Fenix. More information about Fenix for Dreamcast can be found at http://atari.vg-network.com.
Work continues steadily on the game, and it's shaped up to be really fun! I'm currently rewriting the enemy generation code to support multiple enemies, added level (now called Quadrants) transitions, bonus enemies that fly across the screen and drop items when shot, the ability to warp ahead levels, "skil-step" code (allows you to select a starting level based on the last level you finished, a la Tempest arcade game), and have found an artist to whip up some real graphics for me. There have been so many changes in the past month that the original code I worked from (Istappen, http://fenixonfire.gp32x.de/html/sources.html, scroll to the bottom) has been completely obliterated and none of the original code has been retained. I've attempted to contact Chui about adding VMU saving to the fenix codebase so I could implement high score saving for the DC version, but he's extremely busy and I haven't heard back from him.
Here's a current screenshot using placeholder graphics:
Timeframe for release is "when it's finished", as I don't like to toss things out there just to say I put something out, and want to create a homebrew game using Fenix that will be playable, complete, and fun. Maybe this will spur others to create their own games using Fenix and rekindle interest in it.

New version of the BeatEm UP Engine for the PSP/DC/DOS/WIN.
Updates
There have been quite a few additions in features. But only if you are a modder. However, PSP and DC users will appreciate one of the new features I've implemented and that is....
Sprite Database Management Modders tend to reuse sprites such as walking, running, etc... over and over and instead of allocating space for every sprite I now reuse the original sprite and its ID. So what does this mean to you then gamer....
2MBytes of RAM has been saved on mods like Final Fight Appocolypse 2nd and Battle Toads. However, a huge mod like A Tale Of Vengence we are saving 8MBytes of memory.
Lastly, alot of bug fixes have been done. If you find a bug then please post it at http://www.borgeneration.com/ where you can also find the weekly updates to the engine and all the mods you can handle.
Its great to see Last Hope selling so well and Trigger Heart Exelica, which is only been announced last week that it was being release for the Dreamcast, and not coming out until February 22nd getting into the 10 ten with preorders so early.

Well, its my turn for a Christmas release, and for that I bring you Yabause 0.8.0! For those who don't know, Yabause is a multi-platform Sega Saturn emulator. For the first time, I have a Dreamcast release ready at the same time as the other ports of Yabause.
To download the newest release, go here: http://yabause.sourceforge.net/index.php/?page_id=4 .
If you pick the Dreamcast version as listed there, you'll get the plain files for the emulator (1ST_READ.BIN). You'll need a Saturn BIOS image to go with it named saturn.bin in the root of the cd. After that, just burn it like any other selfbooting emulator, pop it in your DC, and follow the directions on screen. Performance wise, you'll get somewhere between 4 and 8 FPS most places, but only around 2 in movies. Not all games work, and some work in the PC version that will not work on the Dreamcast version. Sorry about that.
Here's some screenshots for those who haven't seen them:
These are all from the game Magical School Lunar, by the way.

SamuraiX released a great new version of OpenBoR v2.0052. This time again with a lots of bugs fixed in all ports, and:
---> Dreamcast File Selector!!!!
---> Dreamcast PackListCreator v0.2
So here's how to create your own BoR collection:
1. All executables, all your favorite mods (.PAK files) and MENU.PAK need to be in the same directory!
2. Run PackListCreator.exe.
3. Burn with BootDreams.
- Don't forget to copy either /PAL/1st_read.bin or /NTSC/1st_read.bin into the directory with your PAKs!

Right on time for the 10th anniversary of id Software's Quake, DCEvolution.net's second Xmas 2006 release represents the ultimate Quake package for your Dreamcast:
Play the original Shareware Version of Quake or fight your way through more than 300 Deathmatch maps against bots.
Using an enhanced version of QuakeDC, ported by Titanium Studios (Stupid Invaders), it offers everything you'd expect from a commercial Dreamcast game:
With its VMU and VGA support, high resolution graphics at 640x480, light and transparency effects and the full original soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails it basically plays and looks like Quake III Arena.
A release of this quality is only possible thanks to Manoel "Fragger" Kasimier (nxMakaqu), who has been working on polishing, improving and enhancing QuakeDC since 2001. This compilation finally features all of his fantastic work on one huge disc!
For more info about this release, printable covers and the download check out this website.

Streets of Rage Remake is a SoR fan game developed using the FENIX engine. A Windows version will be released tomorrow, on 31th December!
A Dreamcast version of SoRR is planned for 2007. The FENIX engine initially was ported to Dreamcast by Chui in 2004.
So, if you, like me, really want see this game ported to a SEGA console, then make your voice heard on the official SoRR forums.
Don't mix this project up with Rage of the Streets v2 which is using the OpenBoR engine. A Dreamcast release of RotS v2 is sheduled for early 2007 too.
