SSF Test Version (2018/12/17) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.

A full English translation of the 1994 Game Gear RPG Moldorian: Hikari to Yami no Sister (The Sisters of Light and Darkness) has been released!
Moldorian tells the story of Navarre, a timid and ineffectual boy whose quest to prove his strength sweeps him and his childhood friend Miria up into a dark plot spanning the entire world of Moldoria. Largely a straightforward RPG, the game’s biggest selling points are its detailed artwork, music by Hitoshi Sakimoto, and unorthodox combat system.
This release was the work of TheMajinZenki (translation), Supper (hacking), cccmar (editing and testing), Xanathis (testing and editing), and Filler (original script dump).
The team also took the time to translate the user manual and include it in both the patch download and the game itself. Players are highly recommended to read it before getting into a battle.

One of the more standout titles from the short-lived Sega Saturn will be getting remade soon. Forever Entertainment has been hired by SEGA to remake Panzer Dragon I and II. Both games will feature brand new graphics "comparable to today's standards", and some of its gameplay elements will be modernized to make it more accessible to new players. No platform was given, but the first game's remake is confirmed to release before the end of 2019, while Panzer Dragon II: Zwei: Remake will follow the next year. More information is due in the "next few months". Forever Entertainment's previous history consists of Fear Effect: Sedna, which was moderately received by critics and fans.

Did you like fantasy games, RPGs or Cyberpunk fiction? If that so, you probably remember Shadowrun from the Sega Genesis. This new update improves a lot of things in the game, from items modification to characters improvements and more. The whole hack is based on the original Shadowrun first edition rules from the PnP game. So if you are a fan from this franchise or are looking for a good RPG, you must need to try this one!

Shenmue fans have wanted to see Ryo Hazuki avenge his father's murder for nearly 20 years, so much so that they crowdfunded the next phase of his quest to the tune of more than $7 million. Yesterday, Ys Net posted an update to its Kickstarter campaign page announcing a final crowdfunding total of $7,179,510 for Shenmue III, a total collected from 81,087 supporters.
Those numbers include the $6.33 million contributed by 69,320 backers of the original Kickstarter campaign in the summer of 2015, with the remaining funds coming from a "Slacker Backer" campaign that ran on the game's official site for three years before closing in September.
Shenmue III is set for release on August 27 of 2019. The first game debuted late in 1999, with the sequel arriving in the fall of 2001.

Sega's video game revenues were stagnant in the first half of the fiscal year, with a lack of big new games to make an impact on the company's bottom line.
In the six months ended September 30, 2018, Sega earned ¥26.7 billion ($236 million) from packaged sales, slightly down from ¥27.1 billion ($240 million) a year ago. Digital games revenue remained flat year-on-year at ¥19.3 billion ($171 million).
Operating profit from packaged sales stood at ¥4.4 billion ($39 million) for the period, up from ¥3.5 billion ($31 million) year-on-year. However, digital games went from a ¥2 billion ($17.8 million) operating profit to a ¥1.4 billion ($12.4 million) loss.
The reason for the loss was the delay of unspecified games that were due for release in the first half of the year. The impact of those delays was partially offset by "robust" sales of the PS4 title Border Break.

Good news for Western Dreamers, because the Japanese game "Seven Mansions" has just received a first fantraudcción that makes it playable in English.
<center style="padding: 0px; border: 0px; color: rgb(17, 17, 17); font-family: "Open Sans", Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, Sans, sans-serif;"></center>It is a complete translation of the game, that is, it includes the scripts, graphics, subtitles and audios ... almost nothing! : D

Awesome news for retro Sega Fans:
One of the 16-bit era’s hall-of-fame RPGs has received a Phantastic makeover!
Phantasy Star IV was one of SEGA’s best RPGs, with great story, character interaction, and gameplay, but the English translation was merely adequate. It suffered from awkward, often laughable dialog, as well as many mistranslations that were meant to tie the 2,000-year-long story of the previous three games together.
Among the goofiest translation choices:
- Misnaming the planet “Palma” to “Parma”, which is a suburb of Cleveland.
- The main character yelling “I’m not going to fight for no mission!” at a pivotal story moment.
- An emotional goodbye between bros punctuated with “You silly!”
And so on.
The patch author, Chris Hatala – “GhaleonUnlimited”, was surprised that a Phantasy Star IV hack fixing the series references was never tackled, so he decided to learn what ROM hacking was all about.
Thanks to the help and support of two other fan-project leaders – vivify93 and lory1990 on RHDN – Chris was able to completely rewrite the script where needed and inject it into the game, along with adding bugfixes, fixing censorship, and allowing for player preference in which script they wanted to play.
Also, thanks to their help and also great resources online, the original Japanese was used to best match the original creators’ intentions.
Being a big fan of the breezy dialog and whimsical nature of the Lunars on SEGA CD, Chris aimed to add a naturalness to the dialog, as well as accentuate each character’s personality.
He also added humor that was appropriate to the established universe and tone of the game, because much of the game’s funnier moments were lost in translation or were simply missed opportunities in the original script.
Now that English fan translations of the brilliant SEGA AGES remakes of Phantasy Star 1 and 2 have been completed, this project was meant to link both both the classic translations together but also these new exciting developments in the Phantasy Star world.
At version 1_48, most of the text errors and bugs should be fixed. The author hopes that this relocalization will give 16-bit RPG fans who missed out on PSIV – as well as long-time PS fans – a reason to revisit one of classic gaming’s best RPG story arcs!

In a recent interview by 'Sega Ages' and published on 'Famitsu', it seems Sega is infact working on an 'emulator' for running Dreamcast games on the Switch console, instead of using the normal re-mastering process for games using existing 'source code', they are going instead for the 'emulator' route for their Dreamcast library. Horii also explained that, because the developers still have the source code for many of their Dreamcast games, they could theoretically remake or port over certain Dreamcast games altogether. However, for the time being, Sega is leaning more toward simply emulating the games instead. Whether or not Sega will continue to push forward with their "Dreamcast on Switch" development is still a mystery, but at least we are one step closer to the possibility!
Being an 'emulator' design, it will be interesting to see if and when 'hackers' & 'scene developers' will be able to unbox the emulator and use it to run other Sega DC games unofficially on Switch consoles that are currently exploitable with CFW's and payload/jig injectors.

Sega has taken the decision to delay Team Sonic Racing by several months.
Originally announced at E3 2018, the game was given a rough release date of 'Winter 2018', which typically means a game will arrive around November or December.
However, the official Sonic The Hedgehog Twitter account has revealed the racer has slipped to May 21st, 2019.
"To make Team Sonic Racing the best game it can be, we're giving the team extra time to work on it," the publisher tweeted.
"We know delays are no fun, but quality matters most. Thanks for your patience - we've got more to show you for TSR very soon."

If the classic Genesis/Mega Drive offerings from Atgames weren't up your alley, there soon will be another alternative on the market for SEGA fans to get their retro fix from. Analogue, known for creating the Super NT, will be manufacturing a system that can play Genesis/Mega Drive and Master System cartridges. Called the Mega Sg, it'll house an Altera Cyclone V FPGA chip, which means every game will be "100% compatible" with the hardware, and though it isn't the chipset found in Sega's original console, it's close, and this one allows games to be played through an HDMI connection while still looking good, and promising little to no input lag. And yes, the Yamaha YM2612 soundcard is included, so that all your Genesis games will sound just like they used to. The Mega Sg will cost $189.99, and for $10 more, Analogue will also have extra cartridge adapters that lets players use Game Gear, Mark III, MyCard, SG-1000, and SG-3000 games on the system.
For those that still have their original Sega CD adapter, you can plug it right into the Mega Sg, as it has official support for the add-on, though due to hardware problems, it will not support the 32X. Games from all regions will be supported, as the hardware is region free, and multiple visual options are available, such as adding scanlines, scaling options, and more. The Mega Sg can be pre-ordered as of today, and will launch sometime in March 2019.
Analogue has uploaded a video showing off the quality of games played on the Mega Sg, which you can check out below.

Let's jump back in time to March of 1994 with issue 3 of the Official Sega Magazine from the United Kingdom.
As our preview articles for this issue, we start off with the Winter Consumer Electronics Show of 1994, where Sega of America officially unveiled the Sega Saturn. We then look at the interview with Hirokazu Yasuhara on Sonic 3.
Moving on, we have features for Streets of Rage 3 as well as the underrated shoot-em-up Sub-Terrania by Zyrinx on the Mega Drive. And finaly we take a look at the review for Road Rash on the Sega Master System.
Enjoy!
