News from the Rockin-B:
SEGA Saturn Game Tutorial and Demo released!
It's getting even easier for people to start developing homebrew games for SEGA Saturn. Using SaturnOrbit (the new and easy saturn development environment for Windows), I developed a Saturn Demo which contains all basic techniques a homebrew Saturn game would need.
Not enough, I wrote a HTML tutorial, which explains all conversion and programing steps used in the Saturn Demo.
The highlights of the Saturn Game Tutorial & Demo are:

Ron posted this news on DC Iberia ( http://www.rockandaluz.com/~dciberia...hp?storyid=133 ) and luckily for us he pmed me an English Translation:
In order to open mouth, I am hoping a small update of FAME/SH4 on the part of Fox68k (also rolled enough last). If nothing is turned, this weekend I will have in my power this small bug-fix. Due to it, single I have been able to prove well this version with FAME/x86 already patched, I mean the Linux version. Reason why I can see, the compatibility of the games with respect to the original version (UAE 0,8,22) this surroundings to the 85-90%, gaining much speed with the use of FAME, my SDL and a good cleaning of code. I believe that we will be able to enjoy the games of the legendary Amiga500 to frameskip 0-1 without sound and frameskip 1-2 sound. Of course, we will have menu customary with autoframeskip to play without eat your brain.
Sounds great to me, get ready for some Amiga action on your Dreamcast very soon
Thanks to Ron on MSN for the news.

My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a family member or has had a family member caught up in the carnage this morning.
Slaughtering of innocent britons from all walks of religion and colour is a very cowardly thing to do but we as a country will stand together as one to avenge you in any form possible.
Today is a sad day.

Lars Hannig, the author of Ocean Depths for Atari Jaguar, thinks about a Dreamcast version of his new graphic adventure game Eerievale:
Eerievale is a horror adventure game using pre-rendered bitmaps, first person perspective and gameplay wise it's like the traditional point-and-click graphics adventure games.
Screenshots:

This hobby project started in 2003 and has gained quite a fanbase since then, so I thought it would be good to make the game available on different platforms. The game will probably run at 640x480 24-bit[...] It will be in three languages... German, English and French.
For more info check out the official Eerievale website at http://www.eerievale.de

Rockin-B released a demo for SEGA Saturn introducing his new real-time texture mapping support library allowing a way to change the texture coordinates:
The SEGA Saturn cannot change texture coordinates in game by hardware. This means that textures are pre-mapped and cannot change [...] which is required for some of todays lightning effects. So I started to implement the generation of a texture from a big source texture using texture coordinates and expanded it to a full featured real-time texture mapping support library. Three demos were released and the 3rd new demo is really.....ahm.....really worth to look at, I think.
He provided an AVI recorded via Satourne that gives you at least an impression how the demo will look like if played on real hardware. Download the AVI here
[The AVI] does NOT look like on real Saturn, due to compression and bugs of the Satourne emulator, like black lines between polygons and triangle distortion of quads.

News from Kojote
As I am at work right now and can't modify the Giana's Return pages, I am posting a few "work in progress" news here.
The project is still NOT dead
The project has a new coder who will stay unmentioned for now. He is currently in the task of recoding the WHOLE game. As he is busy with regular paid work, this task might take a bit long.
The project has a new gfx artist who will also stay unmentioned for now. He is currently retouching all the graphics of Giana and will be done with most of the retouching by this weekend.
The GP32 version is probably dropped forever, but this is NOT sure yet.
There might be versions for Linux, BeOS, MacOS, PSP, Dreamcast, Saturn and other computers/handhelds/consoles. I (Kojote) currently try to contact Armin Gessert again, who is the copyright holder of "The Great Giana Sisters" and who also kindly allowed us to use his trademark, if he wishes to not create the one or other port due to legality issues. We don't want to harm him and respect him much. Unfortunatly he has not responded to one of my two mails yet.
Due to security reasons, the webboard had to be completly deleted. It is too much work to take care of two boards, so a probably new "Giana's Return" discussion board will be merged with the boards at PD Roms.
Stay tuned for more news...

For a long while now ive had complaints about the amount of non Dreamcast forum posts on the front page and the tidalwave of PSP Posts, well from now on the DCEmu UK Website will only have Dreamcast Forum Topics on the DC Site, we have also fixed the RSS Feed, so now you have a feed for the forums which is:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/ext...10,46,47,41,78
and a feed for Dreamcast News only which is
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/ext...S2&forumids=23

News from the Store that releases our Commercial Homebrew Games:
The GOAT Store, LLC currently carries over 7500 products, but that simply isn't enough for us! We are adding over $10,000 dollars more worth of inventory in an effort to get our number of available products above 10,000 by the end of the month! This will include more than quadrupling our inventory of N64 and Dreamcast games, as well as adding games to every system we currently carry and even adding an entirely new section to the site!
This new section of the site that will contain gaming collectables. Our featured part of the collectables section will be new developments for old consoles. This will include such exciting things as new controllers, new games and other neat things done by individuals or groups for some of your old favorite consoles.
There will also be new sections for soundtracks, films, toys, banners, promotional items and much more. We are very excited for this new section, just like we are to expand our gaming selection.

Ron messaged me on MSN to tell me of a great story at DCiberia (http://www.rockandaluz.com/~dciberia/modules/news/)
Heres a rough google translation:
Enterprise DC it is the first emulator that leaves the Factoria DCiberia and the first game will be the last emulator neither, because with members like Chui, Fox68K, LTK666, Kupra, Quzar and many other or sabeis what lares cooks in these.
Enterprise DC is port and is the first emulator of the powerful computer of the 80, Enterprise 64/128 , micro of 8 bit based on a Z80, if quereis to know what is a Enterprise, teneis more info in Old-Computers.com and 8 Museum of bit.
The emulator is port of the EP128EMU that has been written in C and SDL by Istvan Varga , and is available under license GPL. The Z80 emulation has been written and is © of Kevin Thacker . The implementation of the WD177x (disk to controller) is baseda in the code of ep32 emulator , by Kevin Thacker and Vincze Bela Gyorgy. . Its Web site is: ep128emu.sourceforge.net
All the used code of other emulators is licensed under the terminos of license GPL.
As soon as the SOURCE is prepared first release ALPHA will be published jointly, under license GPL and we will be encatados to improve it as far as possible
This emulator has been carried in a time record, but it has allowed me to work with great cracks like: Mekanaizer, JMD, Fox68K and Troy Davis a.k.a GPF
All my gratefulness by all its support and unconditional aid, by means of which I have learned very many more on the emulation in Dreamcast and in addition we have amused much.
... So despues of the rigor introduction, as it is preparing a stable version and with the single GUI already finished deciros that as always it will be necessary aid to do tests and the tests before it publishes first alpha release public.
At the moment, the emulator incorporates EXDOS 2,1 and the BASIC, the support for TAPE and the SOUND have been deshabilitados in this preliminary version.
During today and tomorrow I will be publishing screenshots and algun video, agradeceria alguuna contribution with software of the Enterprise in the formats is covered, disk or cartridge.
Agradeceros to all those that you were animating and I hope that you like. Like single precise cochair on the other hand to comment that luckily it works in chankast perfectly, but without the keyboard of the DC (necessary) lost stays, so there is to animate to ELSEMI so that it does plugin of keyboard for the Chankast.
Rum (Interested in Beta testing to leave to MP or commentaries in DCiberia)

Ron has again pointed me to news on DCiberia: http://www.rockandaluz.com/~dciberia...hp?storyid=155
Heres the rough translation:
Continuing with the good news that make the summer assortment more, we go to avanzaros brief notes on which already it is being outlined like one of the 2005 revolutions.
This could not be another thing that the F.A.Z.E. Fast and Accurate Z80 Emulator . FOX68K , one of best coders in emulation of CPÚs of 8 and 16 bits for Dreamcast is its creator and we already can advance some new features to you.
The FAZE is port of the emulator of Z80 that has been designed on the basis of another existing Core in X86 already called RAZE . It will maintain a high level of compatibildad at level of APÃs but with the advantage to be totally rewritten in Assembler for SH4 .
Of the at the moment existing cores for Dreamcast, two of most popular are the CZ80 and the MAMEZ80 . Other cores Z80 exist that are used in other emulators of Dreamcast, but these two mentioned stand out by but being adapted. In prinicipio and apróximadamente the FAZE will be 3 times faster that emus present, maintaining a highest level of compatibildad and precisión/rendimiento.
FOX68K it has commented to us that the best thing of the emulation in Dreamcast is about to still to come, but that this Core was necessary to be able to leave and to close with the greater quality of emulation the NEOÂLL , IT SUCKS for DC and the MEGADRIVE emulators , leaving in addition to the door abiertra to other emulators that need the intensive use of the Z80 in DC.
Up to here we told you, the codification progress and the advances already are around 20 % , which has been many weeks of development and at the moment they are even occurring to small adjustments to the FAME (68K) with which the time to dedicate is not all the wished one.
Thank you very much FOX68K by info and we hoped to see your cores in a moment rulando in all emus of Dreamcast, because they are the BEST ones.
Great news for the scene

The Free BOR Project is a project to promote more original Beats of Rage modifications outside of the usual mods using illegal copyrighted material. You will find graphics, music, and sounds which are free to use for any reason, other than commercial projects.
You will not only find original creations, but also graphics based on famous material which has been released into the public domain. This project has just begun, but to give you an idea of what kind of graphics will be available, there is a still graphic of Tom (Doc) Strange, from Nader/AC Comics on the Free BOR Project page:
http://dreamon.cyberdogcastle.com/freebor/
There is a submission form on the site for you to submit your own legal material for public use.
Please post any feedback about this idea here.

It was just over a year ago that i started this site to post news on the Nintendo DS and any happenings surrounding it, since then theres been a mass of Demos and homebrew games and some awesome hacks and advancements. The Passme and WifiMe are two of the highlights of the year.
This site in its old state was tired and in need of a shake up and a more professional look. We now have a great new IRC page that links you to the DCEmu chat channel and every single bit of homebrew and emulation news is posted on this site, we also have a direct connection to the forums with the news so comments can be easily seen and responded too.
We have over 100 releases for the Nintendo DS Scene on site and are always looking to find any missed releases (so let us know)
Keep on visiting for the ultimate in Nintendo DS Emulation and Homebrew news, check out the site here --> http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk

BlueCrab has successfully hacked the Dreamcast microphone, he posted in this topic at dcemulation.com
<blockquote>
Well, this evening (heh, evening), I've managed to successfully hack together some code to access/use the Dreamcast Microphone (the one you'd get with Seaman). More info will be forthcoming in the morning, when I get up.
I'd like to leave you with this little sound clip I recorded off my mic:
http://www.ljsdcdev.net/dcmic2.ogg
This sound clip is what I believe to be the 2nd ever thing recorded off of a dreamcast mic using homebrew code.</blockquote>

This CD image contains the classic First Person Shooter 'Marathon' created by Bungie software, also included are the two sequel games 'Marathon 2: Durandal', and 'Marathon: Infinity'. Many of the newer gaming generation will know Bungie Software for their later game HALO for the X-Box, all the older gamers will know that here's where HALO's origins started.
Bero's port of Aleph One to the Dreamcast is used so please note that you need a DC keyboard to play the games (you'll also need a controller to navigate the CD menu). Sadly, Bero's port was left at an early stage without VMU save support, but it still stands as a good example of the Dreamcast being a great platform for classic game engine ports.

The Cool Herders Status Forum has been updated with videos of the commercial version of Cool Herders in action. For those who don't know, Cool Herders is a party game where you have to collect as many sheep as possibly while keeping your opponents from collecting their share of sheep. The game was originally released as part of the DCTonic collection disc that was passed out at E3 2001, and later updated in 2003. There are several differences between the released demo, and the commercial release:
* Single Player "story mode" tells the tale of Zeus and his sheep, Chrys, hunting down Iskur the storm lord and trying to retrieve his sheep!
* Six worlds (plus unlockable )
* Six different herders (plus unlockable )
* Animated stages
* Full soundtrack (or at least better than the single tune )
* Options to tweak gameplay (to replicate the original demo or use all the new features)
All of these are subject to change, and may or may not appear in the final commercially released game.

The promise of Dream On Magazine has been around in one form or another since October 2002, with the discussion of a professionally pressed Dreamcast Demo Disc.
The promise will finally become a reality on September 18, 2005 at the DreamCon 2005 at the East Coast Gaming Expo.
The magazine will come with an included demo CD (entitled "The Sandman" to avoid confusion with Official Dreamcast Magazine UK's DreamOn Demo Discs - thanks to impetus for the name ).
The magazine will go on sale first at the expo, and will be available for sale online after that. Depending on the sales of the first magazine, the future of the magazine will be decided. At this time such frequently asked questions will be addressed: whether it will be monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly, whether subscriptions will be available, and if any additional writers for the magazine are required.
Thanks for your support of this idea over the years. I'm glad to be announcing that it's finally going to become a reality.
If you have any further questions or comments about the magazine and the demo disc, please let me know at the Official Dream On Magazine and Demo Disc Forum.
