This time around the authors came up with a project started ages ago by many groups, but never finished. Lord Oddeye and TheMajinZenki started working on it 4-5 years ago, but only now did it come to fruition, thanks to cybermind (a new member of the group).
The game is an RTS by Nihon Falcom. It had plenty of different ports, but generally it could be said that the Mega Drive/Genesis version is the best, due to its great, funny campaign, and all the additional scenarios it offers to the players. In the main campaign the players will control Prince Al, who wants to be acknowledged by his father as a great ruler. On his quest, he’s going to meet many interesting characters and will engage in many battles against the forces of evil, but with some twists. Overall, the group considers this game to be very fun, and hopes the players will too!
Once again, thanks to TheMajinZenki for his peerless translation work/translating the manual, Lord Oddeye for the invaluable help with the proofreading/testing the game multiple times and cybermind, as thanks to the hacking prowess of the new member this project was possible. Enjoy, see you next time!

SSF PreviewVer R18(V7) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.

“Who is this Zio?”
The main character’s mentor asks this shortly into Phantasy Star IV, and since its release in 1993 (JP), fans haven’t had a real answer.
Released at a time when RPG antagonists were becoming realistically motivated, tragic, and/or even sympathetic, PSIV’s first-half villain was seemingly evil just because.
The mystery of Zio finally is revealed to PS fans decades later, from a developer interview in a cosplay fanzine, of all places (pictured).
Zio’s backstory now drives Rune’s/Thray’s heroic journey even before the events of PSIV, and their diametric opposition, actions, and even starting positions have sound reasoning behind them.
Thanks to the magic of romhacking, unrealized developer dreams like these can now be integrated into already great classic gaming stories, bringing them to new heights and giving even the oldest fan a reason to revisit a beloved world.
Phantasy Star Generation: 4 is a retranslation and relocalization of PSIV, comprehensive in its research, writing and editing, made for new players and old fans alike. Please contact the author with any feedback or requests for customized versions of the patch.

aishsha, paul_met and Pennywise present another completed Sega Saturn translation for the SRPG Valhollian. Chances are most people have probably never heard of the game, but now’s a perfect time to learn all about it. We’ve included a translated manual with this release. Given that there’s very little info available on the game, a translated manual might be a significant source of info on the game.
Anyhow, Valhollian was released by a very tiny company that only a released a few titles, so it might as well be considered more of an indie title by modern standards. It features beautiful 2D graphics with 3D battles that can be turned off. It’s also a very difficult game with grueling battles that can last over an hour. If one is to succeed, they must be a master of strategy, take full advantage of the gameplay mechanics and save often. The good news is the game gets easier as you progress. Assuming players can get past the difficulty, they’ll find a typical fantasy RPG story that actually manages to provide some decent depth and twists and turns.
In addition to providing to a polished J-E translation, if players have the 4MB action replay cart, the translation will take advantage of it and use it to reduce load times.
Anyhow, be sure to let the team know how hard the game is and a big thanks to everyone who helped get the translation to the finish line.

If you hadn't heard it the first five times that SEGA has said this in the past year, the company has once again reiterated its future plans in regards to Atlus. Following the success of Persona 4 Golden being brought to Steam earlier this year, SEGA has stated that it wishes to bring other Atlus titles to new platforms. The latest update on the situation comes from SEGA's recent financial briefing, in which CEO Haruki Satomi said the following:

As for Steam, while we hadn't been actively releasing Atlus titles on PC, we felt that there was much potential there, and put out a direct port of Persona 4 Golden for PC, and the user response was far beyond our expectation. That being said, we hope to release Atlus catalog titles across various platforms, whether as direct ports or in the form of remasters or remakes.

Throughout 2020, SEGA has ported Catherine: Full Body to the Nintendo Switch, Persona 4 Golden to Steam, and has announced an HD remaster for Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, which is planned for release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 early next year.

Sega Sammy has reported operating losses and decreased sales for the first half of its financial year -- but still raised its full-year forecasts.
The company reported sales of ¥110.2 billion ($1.1 billion) for the six months ended September 30 -- down 33% year-on-year from ¥165.5 billion ($1.6 billion).
It posted an operating loss of ¥3 billion ($29 million), down from an operating income ¥14.6 billion ($141.2 million) in the same period last year. Operating loss was recorded at ¥3.5 billion ($33.8 million), down from an operating income of ¥12.6 billion ($121.9 million).
Within this, the Entertainment Contents division -- which includes both its video games and amusement businesses -- showed sales were down 16% from ¥115.7 billion ($1.1 billion) to ¥97 billion ($938.6 million).
However, the division saw increases in operating and ordinary income, up 13% and 30% to ¥14.9 billion ($144.2 million) and ¥16.8 billion ($162.6 million) respectively.
This segment of the business fared well thanks to increased appetite for video games during the coronavirus pandemic and increased download sales thanks to "the advance of digitalisation."
Sega Sammy expects the games market to continue to thrive thanks to the arrival of Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, as well as the increased possibilities afforded by cloud gaming and the spread of 5G infrastructure.
During the six months, the company sold over 19 million games -- up from 12 million during the first half of the previous fiscal year. This was driven by a mix of back catalogue sales and new titles like A Total War Saga: Troy.
These successes helped offset the sharp losses seen in the company's resorts business, as well as the slow recovery of its pachinko segment.
Sega Sammy notes the pachislot and pachinko industry has shown a "gradual recovery" since the state of emergency lifted in Japan, a measure introduced to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Sega will start "aggressively" porting games from its back catalogue to Steam, due to the strength of digital PC sales during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Japanese publisher's Entertainment Contents division -- which includes video games -- was the sole performer in an otherwise dismal Q1, as the global pandemic's impact on arcades, pachinko parlours and holiday resorts dragged on its bottom line.
In an investor Q&A released today, Sega said that "repeat sales" of its catalogue increased significantly in March and April this year. While that growth slowed during June and July, sales were still higher than 2019.
The key platform during that period was Steam, specifically in Europe and the US, with consumers purchasing digital games during lockdown.
Sega highlighted the performance of Persona 4: Golden, in particular, a PlayStation Vita game from 2012 that launched on Steam in June this year. Sales of the PC port were "significantly higher than expected," the company said, and that has influenced its strategy going forward.
"Going forward, we intend to aggressively promote the porting of previously launched titles to Steam and other new platforms," Sega said.
"Under such direction, we would like to take multi-platform rollout in account and prepare the PC version and others from the start."

Sega has announced the resignation of its president and chief publishing officer Kenji Matsubara.
In an official notice of resignation released by parent Sega Sammy Holdings, it states that Matsubara will leave the company as of today.
The notice cites "personal reasons" as the reasons for his departure.
Matsubara has served as the Japanese publisher's president since 2017, adding chief publishing officer to his role back in April.

Video games were the sole bright spot for Sega in Q1, as the COVID-19 pandemic undermined every other aspect of its business.
In the three months ending June 20, 2020, the Japanese firm sold around 13 million units of video game software -- an increase of 100% over the same quarter last year, entirely driven by locked down consumers.
The key performers were Creative Assembly's Total War: Shogun 2 and Total War: Rome 2, which sold a combined 1.9 million units during the quarter. Persona 4: The Golden and Persona 5: Royal sold a combined 1.2 million units.
This contributed to the solid performance of Sega's Entertainment Contents division, which recorded a 15% decline in revenue to ¥45.1 billion ($427 million), but a 68% increase in operating profit to ¥8.2 billion ($77.6 million).
The division would have performed even better were video games not grouped alongside amusement machines, which rely on public spaces like arcades to make money.
While Sega noted arcades in key markets had started to open by the end of the quarter, "like-for-like sales" were 27.4% of the level achieved in Q1 last year.
