For those who don't know Sega Tec Toy, Tec Toy was formed in brazil in 1987 to create electronic toys. They partnered with Sega to bring the Master System and Genesis to brazil, and continued to release games for the SMS well into the 2000s, including a number of brazillian exclusives and impressive ports. The company recently released (in 2006) a version of the Master System with 120 games, some of which are brazil-originals (but no cart slot - see digital press forums for a good discussion of that), so apparently that business is still going strong.
But most people know about Tec Toy's SMS ports - and maybe a few even know about their Mega Drive exclusives, like Duke Nukem 3D. But what grabbed my attention upon browsing their new site, was the Saturn and Dreamcast stuff. While (as far as I know) no brazil-exclusive games were published, it's interesting to see which games they chose to release. Here's the Dreamcast list, and the Saturn list. Mostly early titles, with a smattering of newer stuff, like Burning Rangers and Sonic Adventure 2, respectively. It's also worth noting that they (apparently) released the smoke Saturn in brazil, which is quite hard to get over here. Shame Tec Toy didn't really give the Saturn and Dreamcast a second life as with the SMS, but it's still pretty nostalgaic to watch old videos of Dreamcast games... and the company is currently running the servers for Ragnarok Online in brazil, so it seems like they'll be around for at least a little while longer. Incidentally, if anyone out there speaks portuguese fluently and wants to help me get a little more information, I'd appreciate an email!

WIP News of the Dreamcast Emulator for Windows via Elation
I want such basin too !
It acts great toy Vertex Shader. First effects of conversions are and despite lack of palette and classification, part of game is presented completely supportably. Certainly < obvious > does not have rouge (roses) without thorns they register third - some game współrzędną 3D as 1/Z, instead of 1/W. For example, Soul Reaver. Effect is such, that dependent on program VS either (or) it acts ( SR but other games not ), either (or) on retreat. That beguile idea as it get around (celebrate) truth some, but there will be next ball at leg for unit PVR2. It and top of iceberg so if it walks about problems with emulation this match.

Snapped at a retailer yesterday by yours truly. This year, two Dreamcast games have been released in Japan, and if this shop is any indicator, increase in the retro console has picked up considerably. Note to Sega: Stop making the crap Sonic games and start making Dreamcasts again. We're buying!

Manoel "Fragger" Kasimier (known for nxMakaqu and QuakeDC) released the first screenshots of his commercial Dreamcast project Fightoon:
Here's some news about Fightoon, the fighting game to be released by the GOAT Store.
It's an one-on-one game where you fight in the tallest arenas ever, against opponents from all over the world. It features many standard features like normal moves, special moves, charging, super moves, dash, long jumps, aerial blocking, and also some unique gameplay elements which we will reveal in the future.
The game isn't very far in development yet, but we got some very good results already. More information may come soon.
And now, screenshots!

Original Newspost
The Dreamcast still refuses to die, heres the news and release of yet another game released for the DC:
SPREAD THE WORD
Karou comes from the young Japanese developer MileStone. Milestone has been responsible for two other recently released Dreamcast™ shooters -- Chaos Field and Radilgy. Both titles were also ported to Gamecube™ and PlayStation2™ later on.
Karous - which translates to 'Crow' in English - looks similar to Chaos Field and especially Radilgy, using many of the same gameplay mechanics of both games and featuring some of the cell-shading style used in Radilgy. The game is about a girl born of a union between an angel and a human. She gets firepower by gaining equipments like a sword, shield and guns. The graphics stick to the basics black and white palette of colours to give the game a gothic feel.
An initial shipment of Milestone's Karous / Crow for Dreamcast™ has arrived today, covering approx. 40% of all preorders. We are expecting a lot more supply by tomorrow, shipping at US$ 59.90 only. The Segadirect Edition release will be in stock on Friday.
With Sega shutting down the GD-ROM production, Karous is expected to be the last commercial Dreamcast™ game.

The game seems to get some steady process. Here are the recent updates of the Development Blog from late February:
Internal Beta 20-02-2007
- New titlescreen
- New Lava background
- Bugfixes
- First boss routine restored
Last big boss arrived!
Ealier this day we have recieved the last big boss from our gfx man! This means… all enemies are fully drawn and animated - it’s time to pull those into the game now.
Titlescreen [16-02-2007]
We are currently in progress to finalize the static titlescreen of the game. As soon as it’s completly finalized we are posting a screenshot and you guys can tell us what you think
Energy Bar [14-02-2007]
We have implemented an energy bar, this mean Giana will not die on first touch with an enemy. You still immediatly die if you touch fire, fall in a hole or if you go “swimming”. The game is getting much easier this way… don’t worry it will be still difficult enough

In case you have obtained permissions to use copyrighted stuff, we want to see a proof.
- The game must be freely distributeable to everyone - We don't care under what kind of license your are going to release it.
- Due to fairness we do NOT allow plain ports. Everyone should have the same base to start an entry. We don't have a problem if you get impressions from other existing games.

- The background picture can contain as many colours as you like, but keep the colors realistic in relation with the foreground.
- The game must play like those old "Nintendo Game & Watch" or "Q&Q" games. To get a proper impression have a look at this picture:
- As start sequence you have to show all "sprite positions" at once (see picture), if you add a logo or anything before such a screen, is your choice (xy presents or similar stuff)
- Please don't add funky music to your entry, a LCD game doesn't have real music. We expect beep sounds

- #2 100 US$
- #3 50 US$
If you submit three games and all three games rank in the TOP 3 you will take all the money.
The prize money is paid per winning title. If a team has worked on an entry, they have to share things themselves.

Its great to think that Dreamcast games are still selling so well all these years after the death of the DC.
Play Asia has posted that they have Last Hope again in stock, heres the rundown on the game for those who dont know what it is:
features
Free 360° rotary protection unit for shooting and dodging enemy fire
Six stages with checkpoints
Four difficulty levels
Hand drawn backgrounds
Fully animated CGI enemies
Superb video game style soundtrack
Constant 60 fps with up to 4 parallax layers
Lighting and transparency FX
Smooth plasma FX
Developer: NGEV.TEAM
description
The evil empire is rushing at light-speed across the galaxies, heading towards Mother Earth. Barely 24 hours ago, they penetrated the last defense line of our galaxy, the Arsion Laser Belt. Millions of innocent people perished in outer space colonies. 70% of our fleet was destroyed during first contact. Our intelligence has now extrapolated their arrival within six days. Conventional weapons cannot stop them. Our last hope is in your hands: The Z-42 Warpstar. Warp into their territories and destroy their leader before they reach Earth.
Last Hope is a shooting game with rotating satellite system and heavy influence by tactical game play. Memorizing level architecture and enemy patterns are necessary for further approaching. The satellite and the beam are the most important components of the game mechanics. You have to learn to deal with both techniques in interaction with the other. It is possible to rotate the protection unit in 360° around the playership and to engage it in 8 gradations. Just press "A" to shoot, "R-Trigger" to rotate clockwise and "L-Trigger" to rotate anticlockwise.
The protection unit mainly serves the defense of enemy plasma projectiles and to fire a stronger plasma shot. There are four difficulty settings: very easy, easy, normal and hard. Less experienced players can enjoy the game on very easy and easy, while experienced players will enjoy the game on normal or challenging it on hard. There are a total of 6 stages. These vary from a sandily space laboratory, a channel fulfilled with muddy water, a idyllic landscape with floating continents, a soul melting enemy factory on fire to an eerily and muggy alien stage.
Last Hope is comparable to classics like R-Type and Gradius. Yet it has it's own visual impressive graphic style and fresh game play. It also features a superb 16-bit digital audio soundtrack, which suits perfectly the games atmosphere.
Exclusive features only available in the Dreamcast™ compatible version:
16-bit CD soundtrack
VMU support (saving + visuals)
DC joypad + arcade stick support (R- and L-trigger support)
Use of DCs soundchips (64 channels/stereo)
Exclusive Dreamcast™ Game Modes:
Adjusted difficulty (Reduction of shoot frequency and flight velocity of enemy bullets / no rank)
Explosions / particle effects reduced for more clarity on screen
Better hitting response for hit enemies
Improved visualization of boss hit zone

Not much info, but this picture was taken at a retailer here in Japan with the immortal words:
Even shoplifting a Dreamcast is a crime.
And if they catch you, they'll call the cops. After that, they'll call your school, your company and your house! Gawd, what happens when you steal a DS Lite? Firing squad?
