The linux-sh cvs mailing list still appears to be down, so this is to
notify you all that I have added the Dreamcast sound support to the
linux-sh cvs.
Unfortunately I cannot post the patch directly to lkml as it contains
some text the majordomo automatically rejects. but those who want to see
the code can look here:
http://linuxsh.cvs.sourceforge.net/linuxsh/linux/
I appreciate this really needs to get added to mainline via ALSA but I
wanted to store it all somewhere safer than my home network and I have
developer access to linux-sh, so that was the obvious place.
However, please note that it requires a patch to the linux-sh dma to
work. Paul has said he will add the patch but if he has it isn't yet
visible in the anon cvs. So the cvs code may not work at the moment.
So what does this mean? well Masta-G said:Thanks to him I can play mp3 files with mpg123 from bash now
Thanks to Masta-G for the news

The guys at matchingservice.dcarena.de keep making improvements to their homebrew ranking system.
So far you can upload F355 and MSR saves. They have started working on Virtua Athlete, SF Rush 2049 and Daytona USA 2001. You can also register your nickname now.
On the other hand, lordnikon at Onlineconsoles and Luigi Auriemma have been working very hard during months to release homebrew server software to keep Starlancer online forever. This might also affect in the future other games such as Unreal Tournament or PBA Bowling.

From DCiberia.net (and a poor Babel Fish Translation)
Eskema brings one to us of its creaturas to the Dreamcast. A called creature BiohazardDC who tries to release to a school of frightful monsters.
To the purest Zelda style, but acclimated in the universe biohazard.

News from Alice Dreams project :
Here comes some news about the Alice Dreams evolution.
For the Dream On Contest 3, we have developed a complete game starting from the mini game Dynamite Dreams.
At the present time, the game contains 8 different maps and a challenge mode. You certainly think that you have already seen too much bombermen, and that our DC already owns an excellent one, but we didn't stop there. Our game owns unique multiplayer modes. Especially one which needs a Vmu. No downloadable demo for the moment, but more details are coming in the following days.
Dont worry about Alice Dreams, we don't give it up !
Here is a little present. The title screen and our logo in wallpaper format.

The contest has been extended to June 10, 2006. I have already recieved 3 entries from project-firestorm and qatmix, patbier and poche, and Imerion.
There are 2 entries in the works (I'm not sure if they want to be revealed or not).
The three submitted parties are free to continue their games until the 10th. I'm not home right now, so the FTP is down, but once I get back on the 5th, you're free to upload any changes to the FTP at any time.
Anyone else who would like to enter the contest, but didn't make themselves known due to lack of progress on their projects, or anyone who would like to challenge themselves and start now -Â*or anyone who has a project that is near completion and didn't intend to submit it to the contest, but would like to do so now, you've got plenty of time left. Just PM me after the 5th, and I'll get you guys set up with an FTP account.

Dan posted at goatstore.com
After Dan Loosen finished his speech entitled "Welcome to the Show" he will have only a few hours on Saturday before stepping back up to the podium... this time, as the head of GOAT Store Publishing ready to make the biggest Dreamcast announcement in years as he reveals the plans that the GOAT Store have for upcoming projects in 2006 / 2007.
GOAT Store Publishing has kept very secret about upcoming Dreamcast projects other than the GOAT Games compilation which has so far had mimimal information released about it. That will all change at 4:00 on Saturday when Dan reveals details on 10 upcoming Dreamcast projects that GOAT Store Publishing expects to release over the next year and a half.
Many of the upcoming games that will be revealed are games which have never been seen or discussed before, and during the speech there will be exclusive gameplay footage of some of the games. A few games will be playable in the DreamCon section of the show immediately following the speech. The games will cover all different sorts of genres and gameplay styles.
"I think people will be very surprised when they see some of what we have in store to reveal," stated Dan Loosen. "Developers are really grasping how the system hardware works, and there is a lot of exciting games in development that we are excited to announce!"
The GOAT Store, LLC will also be releasing signed copies of two of their most recent Dreamcast releases -- Inhabitants and Maqiupai -- at the show. The signed copies are hand numbered and limited to only 100 copies, and have never been put on public sale before the show.

This was posted over at the Gianas Return Blog:
We plan to release the final of Giana’s Return when everything is in 101% shape. Basicly we target to release a Dreamcast or Win32 release at a demoparty called Buenzli (www.buenz.li) and we probably going to enter the GP2x port into the GPH coding contest.
Most staff members are very busy by now, specialy the ones attending university or school. Only the organizer and the main coder are kind of limited busy. In any way there will be no release before end of July 2006.

I just went to the page and saw a redesign - and saw Catz N' Dogz 2, Misadventures of Crystala & Tido, Center Ice Hockey, and Storm! Pong.
All of them except Storm! Pong say Project reconstruction underway. Stay tuned. (Storm Pong says New Project.)
Is Will Sams bringing Storm! Studios back?

News of VMU TOOL 0.8.5 from Speud :
News of VMU Tool 0.8.5:
the new version was almost ready to be released when I discovered another bug from the previous version. So I decided to take some more time to fix this bug, this shouldn't take too long hopefully.
Here is the list of improvements from VMU Tool v0.8.0 so far:
- fixed bug of VMU files' compression
- fixed bug of VMU last formatted a sunday
- added a "defragment" option in the "Open VMU" menu
- implemented PSO screenshots reading in image viewer
- implemented GD-ROM reading support
- fixed weird display for some images in the image viewer
- increased text viewer's capacity to read files of 500KB max and changed words limit to 200000
- rewrote the "rename" function so it more works as expected (insert chars with keyboard and pad)
- implemented BMP images reading
- fixed the possible buffer's overflow when loading a bad DK/DP embeded file
- changed the default name of files extracted from a VMU dump
- added options to change the menus' background color and opacity
- implemented themes support
- allowed GUI files to be loaded from PC
- added options "rename" and "delete" for files loaded from PC
- made options saving to VMU optional
- allowed options changes to be saved without saving to VMU
- added saving/loading of options from PC
- changed options loading/saving code so it checks every other VMUs after reading/writing error
- added texts shadows
- implemented pre-loaded files list
- modified VMU emulator's texts and default size
- replaced keyboard keys by pad buttons combo for "mirror", "rotate" and "flip" functions of the image viewer
VMU Tool 0.8.5 should be released in 3 versions, each one with its own default theme:
PSO theme, Love Hina theme,Shenmue 2 theme
The theme only sets default wallpaper and colors, you're free to change them anytime as you wish.
Apart from allowing to backup VMU files to PC and vice versa, or save them from CD/PC to VMU, VMU Tool has some functionnalities that are not well known. Here are some misc screenshots that demonstrate some of them:
The image viewer supports BMP, PNG, JPEG images and PVR textures
The text viewer displays text files by respecting alineas and tabs
The audio player loads some Ogg Vorbis, MP3 and Wave musics with a timer displayed in real time
Note : The proggy isn't released yet !

So... yesterday I was messing around with some files I had with tons of GameShark codes, and I decided to build an online Dreamcast cheat code database using PHP+MySQL.
Right now there's 3500+ GameShark/ActionReplay CDX cheat codes for 254 dreamcast games, but I'll keep adding more games and codes I've around. I also have a couple of related projects in mind that will help Dreamcast's gamers to handle cheat codes.
Visit the Cheat Code Database here:
http://www.bucanero.com.ar/dreamcast/codes/
I hope this page is useful for the Dreamcast community!
