Quite a nice news update, heres what Quzar posted:[br][br] i figured id give a bit of an update: ive been trying to get a menu system implemented and by tomorrow should have it working. other than that, i have been fiddling around other parts of the code, and from what i see it seems amazingly fast yet very incomplete. I have never seen code look like this before. Once I get a menu working, there will be 6 different settings: file to load (from CD), video_page_flipping, cga_low_res_mode, int9_as_irq, int1c_as_irq, direct_mode3. The emulator is well documented so I generally know what these mean, but Im not sure. It has pre-programmed settings for 6 different games, but that is all. These settings determine how it runs and all. The one thing I dont understand at all is how/why controls are not working well for me. I can start a game (of round 42) but then cannot play it. It runs as if i were playing, but am unable to control the action. [br] [br]All in all its buggy, needs work, is pretty much dead on the PC side, but will be able to run who knows how many older games, and is very fast. Oh, and it is theoretically emulating a 386 cpu, which is quite good. [br][br]well that was posted earlier and then the author of Bhole has now joined our forum and has posted this:[br][br] i'm the guy who wrote BHole [br]quzar sent me e-mail, i was actually hoping someone may be interested in that thing... but nobody did... [br]anyway, if you guys tell me specific games you want me to run i think i can try retouching it (notice, i haven't touched BHole for like... 2 years... the release you guys saw was actually quite late [br] [br] [br]anyway, just wanted to tell you BHole was dead because no one seemed to care about it... (and we had dosbox and mess) if anyone cares about it know i think we can have some nice zombification. [br] [br]p.s. here's the stupid question, in my life, i never seen anything but a PC, and a DEC-Alpha, can you guys please give me specs of the whole dreamcast thingy, so that maybe if i add more code to BHole, it will be done in a way that will make the code more compatible. [br][br]Nice to see the original author getting involved, lets hope that this turns into one of the most important emulators of the year.[br][br]Check out the Topic Here

Schthack has released software that allows you to create a personal server for PSO. You can create
a ship, and have it linked with Schtack's server, with all the features that the main ship has, including setting events.
I have set up a DreamOn ship for the game, so I hope to see some of you there. I'll be on all day.

GoatDan, of GOAT Games, posted this information on the DCEmulation forums.[br][br]- For the record, if you want to take the text of this message and post it anywhere... PLEASE DO. I want to inform everyone as much as possible about the problems regarding the release of these games and what we have done. By all means, if you have any questions, please post them here. If you post this on any other message boards, please point it to this thread for people to reply to, as I can only watch one at a time...[br][br]*ahem* So here goes:[br][br]As many people know, there were two games that won the first DreamOn contest -- Inhabitants and Maqiupai. Both games are excellent homebrew titles that are definitely ready for a professional pressing. The games were supposed to be pressed in time for the Midwest Gaming Classic on May 22nd and released at the show. Due to a problem with the master's that assured us only a 50/50 chance that the final product would function, we opted to not force them through and instead resubmit masters.[br][br]About a week after the show, we had created a new set of masters using the exact same method as Feet of Fury, the first commercial release that we did. These disks were sent to the pressing company, and they went through the pre-press set-up and had a limited number of errors. Seeing that they were the same general errors as what Feet of Fury had, we figured everything would be fine and signed for the games. They were shipped to us, arriving on June 22nd.[br][br]Upon booting, the disks refuse to load the game. Both of them will default to the built-in audio track(s) and will play those just fine. The data is accessable by looking at it on a computer. But the Dreamcast will not play it. Even though there would be a relatively easy fix to "force" them to function on the Dreamcast, it would not hold up to the same professional standard as Feet of Fury.[br][br]We are not working with the company that pressed the games to figure out a fix. We are going to have to pay for another pressing, as we signed off on the initial one fully understanding the games may not work. Some answers to questions that have been asked:[br][br]Could it just be a bad burn on some of the disks? The disks that are made into the games are not burnt, they are pressed. The pressing process ensures that every disk is made in an identical way -- if there is a problem with one, there is a problem with them all.[br][br]If the masters work, why can't you just make an exact copy of them? - This sounds like the most simple solution, but the fact is that pressing CDs are really only done in three "flavors" -- music, PC and Mac formats, or a combination of the above. The machine that makes the CD molding has built in error checking for these formats. The Dreamcast is a different format that has obvious differences between the other formats that will arise no matter what -- for instance, the disks contain a lengthy blank track to push the data to the outside of the disk, which theoretically helps keep the Dreamcast alive longer. This consistently shows up as a, "Are you sure?" type option. There are a lot more technical things that pop up too.[br][br]We are the only company currently producing Dreamcast games, and the place we are pressing them through is the only company that is currently pressing Dreamcast games onto CDs, and one of only a handful in the world that have done it. Considering the difference in time frame and scale, this is a huge problem that needs to find a workaround for all future releases.[br][br]Is there any way to speed up the process? Yes and no. We could push the games through right now with hacks that would probably make them work, however it would not solve the larger problem of understanding what went wrong and stopping it from happening again in the future. We have at least three releases in the pipeline right now, and we do not want to run into this problem again. Also, if we pushed them through and they still didn't function correctly, it could do irreversable financial damage to us. We have to get this right, and we have to do it now. Our goal is to have the disks back through production by the end of this month, and it is looking like that will occur.[br][br]What if the games aren't ready to go for a while longer? What about pre-orders? We will keep everyone updated as much as possible. There hasn't been too much news to report as of late, so we have been rather quite. Pre-orders will be shipped as soon as we can. If you have a pre-order and would like your money back, we wil refund your money at any time with no questions asked. Simply email loosen@goatstore.com and we will set it up for you.[br][br]If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to ask here. Thanks for your continuing support, and we will get this right soon!
[br][br]If you have any comments on this information, please reply to the original DCEmulation Forum Post

spiroth10 posted this information over at the DCEmulation forums:[br]- Ok, Ive seen a lot of people get frustrated and have problems with this, but it IS possible. I do it almost every day. and its really easy, too. anyone can do it. the only thing that costs any money is nero with this little tut, so its accesible to ALL who need to use it. OK. here goes the tutorial![br][br]what you need:[br]1. Nero[br]2. Self boot inducer (sbinducr.exe)[br]3. thats it![br][br]first off, download a CDI (discjuggler) image of the app/emu/game you want.[br]then, run CDItoTAO.exe (some of the caps letters might be lowercase, but it doesnt matter) and choose your CDI file. it will then be converted to a .nrg file. however, it WILL be compatible with nero 6!!! it ALWAYS works for me, at least. the problem with pre-made nero images is that they are in DAO mode, which will not work for dreamcast programs for some unknown reason in nero 6. start up nero, choose the .nrg image you made, and behold the godlyness of your ability to burn DC apps with nero 6![br][br]notes: This works for me, and should for you, but may not. I am not responsible for any damage this causes (though I'm not quite sure how any COULD happen... your not doing anything to your pc if you follow the tutorial) I am not responsible as to the quality of the dreamcast program you burned. If something hapened because of the program you used, find out who the coder was and complain to them. I am in no way realted to OR endorsed by Nero(c) or selfboot inducer (c? im not sure). Selfboot inducer is a fine tool created by Burner0 to make burning multiple apps on one cd easier, and is not meant for this, but it CAN be safely used for this purpose.[br][br]I hope this tutorial works for you, and I hope it is useful. I added the above to avoid any problems that might have occured between me, burner0, and Nero.[br][br]this method always works for me. and I posted it because I dont have alcohol 120% and for some reason my discjuggler demo is missing a .dll... also, some sbi files dont always work (nesterDC doesnt work for me if its an sbi.. the controls wont work on games...) generally cd images are more stable than sbi's are because they are unmodified. I hope to help all those who have nero, and have problems with sbis.[br][br]this guide was written by me for all DC emulation related sites, although it was only posted on www.dcemulation.com's forum. you may re-distribute this guide for your DC site if you wish and can remove the line that says dcemulation.com AS LONG AS credit is given to me (and burner0 for creating sbinducr, but I created the guide myself).
[br][br]This is fantastic news for anyone using Nero.

Hi there, [br][br]your can download right now the patch for the 1.1.1 version of DCFreeDev. It installs over a existing installation of DCFreeDev 1.1, so please download it first if you don't own it. The *new* features, in a nutshell, are:[br][br]* New Dreamcast templates added. Now you can select the use of the coder's cable, a binary generation, or a CHANKAST direct execution. Yes, Una-i and I have worked together to bring you bleeding edge Dreamcast emulation to the development zone. Thanks a lot to the whole Chanka team, and specially to Una-i, who also helped me as betatester.[br][br]* New GP32 template: USB cable is now supported for direct uploading of the executable file. The GP32 templates now generate nearly *every* executable format: AXF, FXE, ELF, GXB, etc...[br][br]* The older malfunctioning templates are now working.[br][br]* New splash screen courtesy of www.mcescher.com. Escher was a genius, and everyone should visit his postumus website, just to become amazed of his symmetry pictures and impossible pics. Thanks, MC.[br][br]* A compilation of SH4 specific documentation and a quick guide for easily producing working projects from a template (for GP32, I'm working on the DC guide). Downloadable in PDF format.[br][br]You can download all this stuff at http://www.gp32spain.com/public_ftp/Programacion/[br][br]Thanks everyone for reading.

If any Developers want or require newsposting access at either DC Homebrew or here at DCEmu UK please respond in this thread and either me or LyonHrt will sort it for this site or me/Dr Zoidberg will sort it for DC Homebrew.
If you fancy newsposting and are known to any of the three of us then apply too, newsposting is a great way of getting to know the scene and the script we use is easy to use also.
Thanks
