News from the official Site about the excellent Mario type game called Ghianas Return, heres the news:[br][br] No worries... we are still alive! But now the bad news... Just a short note that the project is on break till around September 2004. The game is just on a break and there will be a final, the project is NOT cancelled. But now the better news... Our musician Alex is going to re-touch a few songs and makes them ready for the Soundtrack-CD which will be avaliable with the EXTENDED SPECIAL DREAMCAST VERSION of the game which will have Chris Huelsbeck's original Ingame/Titlemusic. If there is enough interest, we can get in touch with Manfred Trenz to get permission to re-made the classic leveles and release them as kind of bonus. Please vote at the webboard for this so we can get an overview and know if the additional work is it worth.

News from the ScummVM Site:[br][br]This is just a quick update to let everybody know we're still alive. Work on ScummVM is progressing as per usual, and we intend to release ScummVM 0.6.1 shortly. [br][br]ScummVM 0.6.1 will contain several bugfixes for various games, as well as several sound and music enhancements âor later SCUMM games (Full Throttle, The Dig, Curse of Monkey Island). [br][br]Also, followers of CVS may have noticed that support for Another World was recently added. This provoked quite a bit of argument within the ScummVM team as to whether this is considered an adventure and within ScummVMs goals. [br][br]After much debate, the engine author (cyx) decided that it would be more convenient to continue the project seperate from ScummVM. It has now been removed, and future information and development will occur as part of the RAW project. To prevent any doomsday predictions, I should also point out that he remains a member of the ScummVM team. [br][br]Check out the site Here [br][br]Lets hope a Dreamcast release follows shortly.

New details of Infinium Labs' plans for the Phantom Game Service have emerged, with company president Kevin Bachus revealing that the Phantom console will effectively be free, and providing the first pictures of the hardware itself.
Describing the pricing decision as "something we had to do," Bachus told US website GameDaily that the hardware would be provided free of charge to consumers who sign up for the Phantom Gaming Service, the broadband game and game-related content delivery system on which the console - which has no external disc drives - relies.
The console itself is a sleek, low-profile unit which sports only one port at the front - a controller connector - and although full specifications for the device have not yet been revealed (expect more later this week), it is planned that it will sport a 40Gb hard drive and a 128Mb graphics card.
The most unique feature of the console, however, is its controller. Phantom is designed to play PC games, and as such, the system uses a keyboard and mouse combination - with a unique unfolding design which places a mouse mat underneath the slanted keyboard, allowing players to balance both items on their lap easily. It looks unusual from the pictures released so far, and only actual hands-on experience with the device will tell whether it's actually comfortable to use - but it's certainly an interesting idea.
Bachus described Infinium's proposition to publishers in very simple terms - "give us a gold master and we'll send you cheques" - and said that the device was attracting major interest from the broadband provider industry and from the hospitality market (such as hotel chains).
Although the range of software which will be available on the device when it launches in the USA on November 18th is by no means finalised, several games will be showcased on Infinium's stand in the South Hall at E3 this week.
Interestingly, the system is also set to allow gamers to play multiplayer titles against opponents playing on normal PCs - which could make the system, with its living-room friendly aesthetics and sofa-friendly controller, into a popular platform for at least one major PC game genre, with Bachus pointing out that it will be "a fantastic platform for massively multiplayer on-line role playing games."

Time to get our thinking caps on and as a whole scene, not just this site or DCEmulation, Boob! etc. I would like to start a Scene wide coding competition.[br][br]Prizes[br][br]Just as a thought i was thinking of prizes, now we could ask to see if commercial companys like LIk Sang etc would donate prizes however small but also what about a paypal fund where we could all donate some cash into to make a great prize for the eventual winners.[br][br]Competitions[br][br]Another thing that needs to be worked out is what competitions? Best Emu/Game/Demo/App with a 4 way split on prizes donated.[br][br]Time Length[br][br]If the comp was to start in July or June how long should it last, well i suggest a 3 month time limit.[br][br]Judging[br][br]Judging would have to be done by people who are very respectable but also who cant enter. A team of 5 i would say.[br][br]Theres a lot to discuss but i feel that with all those who feeel strongly about the scene this could be a great competition. So its over to everyone for opinions.

I would have posted this earlier but i was as sick as a dog yesterday but i feel a bit better today.[br][br]2 days ago we broke our site record with 3653 uniques in a day so thats fab for a young site that is still building.[br][br]The forums are going great with quite an array of great coders from several scenes discussing projects etc on there.[br][br]Id like to thank our gracious host Martin of Emulation 64 and his Company Nathell.com who provide some of the very best hosting you can get.[br][br]We are still working on V2 of the site and its coming along great, we have the CMS installed but are in the task of trying to configure it to what we need, which is no easy task.[br][br]Thanks for visiting the site and making this a great first month.

News posted by CyRUS 64 at BooB! [br][br] Although not homebrew-related I received an email from Gilroy Ndlovu informing me that the Phantasy Star Online servers are now back, and thus the game is playable online again.[br][br]However very few people apparently know about this so this is primarily an appeal for any of you interested in helping 'restock some of the ships'.

I found this on Zophar's.net
1:39: The HQ Scans group wrote in to let us know about more manual scans that are now available. All manuals are in PDF format and are downloadable via BitTorrent. Here are the newest manuals added:
The Dreamcast Pack v1.00 is 54.2MB and contains 73 Manuals.
The Genesis/32x/CD Pack v1.00 is 45.6MB and contains 61 Manuals.
The Xbox manual Pack v1.00 is 500 MB and contains 114 Manuals.
are there any plans to put up individual manuals for download on this site ? (Dreamcast) in the future.
tinku...

Brandon has posted this on his site...[br][br]"Inhabitants Dreamcast is DONE! [br][br]Finally. Now I can sit back, relax, and wait for the damn thing to get pressed. It really looks nice, it has a ton of new features since the contest release, It's more stable, it has the unlockable features actually working properly, which force you to play all of the modes It has multiplayer improvements, its just very, very good, at least I'd like to think so. [br][br]Anyways, just thought everyone should know."[br][br]If your interested, go preorder it at the Goatstore! Go on!

One for the bookmarks here, as posted on dcemu.co.uk earlier this week _Tyrell_ has updated his site, with the current status of the emu:[br][br]"It is currently working but far from perfect. As of now it can load sna/z80 snapshots, 48k & 128k sound is working, the virtual keyboard and the option screens are showing but not really usable due to the joystick config not being 100% functional. With the fantastic news that a new SelfBoot Inducer is being worked on by one of the Dreamcast Scenes Finest BurnerO, this brings me to a discussion that all Dreamcast Scene site ops and fans must join in.[br][br]The Dreamcast scene covers a massive amount of Homebrew, Emulation and Development downloads and maybe its now time to have an industry standard and i believe that the new Selfboot Inducer is the way forward and when each sites offers downloads we offer in Plain and SBI file flavours only.[br][br]That way newcomers and oldtimers can burn new homebrew and we as site ops, webmasters etc only have to worry about 2 types of files.[br][br]For the fans it means less wasting of CDS because you can put multiple items on one cd.[br][br]Any thoughts on the matter, as webmaster of here with LyonHrt we want to make this site the best but the scene will be better when people listen.
