_Tyrell_ has posted news about his work on his great Spectrum Emulator for the Dreamcast[br][br] - Rewrote the rendering code using vram_s (unstability problems, which were due to the DMA transfers, are now fixed forever) [br][br]- Correct line-by-line border emulation (Vectron for example is ok now). [br][br]I'm also adding this feature: in the next version, it'll possible to save compressed memory snapshots. The emu will offer several slots for loading/saving games or BASIC programs you've written using the DC keyboard. [br][br]I have found a library (libspectrum) by Philip Kendall, which would allow me, in theory, to add support for the TZX file format.

Freeze posted this news over at dcemulations forums, its important enough for me to post here too, heres his news:[br][br][br] Dreamcast Demo Disc #01[br]This project is far away from death. Although we didn't say anything about this disc in the last month, we're currently working on it. A good programmer works on a new menu system, even he has only few sparetime left. The content is already set but people are trying hard to fix some bugs in their programs. [br][br]I can't give you an exact release-date cause I don't want to disapoint people again. I don't want to build-up wrong hopes on promises we can't keep due higher problems. [br][br]Still, the CD will be produced 2.000 times and give away for free with every Dreamcast order at Lik-Sang. This makes sure that only Dreamcast users will get their hands on the DDD#01 and won't land at PS2 gamers for example. [br][br]What we still need: Unfortunately I found out that I'm absolutly a moron concerning good looking 2D menus. If someone can give me a hand, please send me PM or an email. [br][br][br]GP32-DC link cable[br]This project is currently holded. It's not canceled, we have a prototype here but it's damn slow and does not satisfy our claims. We have our men who experiment in all their sparetime with a faster link cable. Once we have a new prototype which is fast enough for our claims, we'll produce a couple of cables in a (professional) factory and it will be sold at Lik-Sang as well. Still we have no release-date. I want to excause myself for all the promises we've done and nothing happend. [br][br][br]Dreamcast-Scene website[br]The news are damn old, I know. The problem is, we were cheated and have no money. But to start from the beginning: When we last news were written we planed a LOT to make a new website which is much bigger, does have a lot more interesting technical features (PHP system, posting and editing our own articles, polls, etc.) and stuff. We already have a guy who can do all this stuff, except for the killer-webdesign. We had contacts to a guy who wanted to make a cool design and he promised us a lot. We were fascinated about his portfolio and what he wanted to do. After a while, silence appeared. What happend? We don't know, but the fact is, he won't reply any email, hasn't done anything yet and we're standing in the middle of nowhere with nothing in our hands, an old website and nothing is done yet. [br][br]Discuss this in the comments

Scherzo the author of the excellent WIP Snes emulator for the Dreamcast called Super Famicast has posted a little news in our forums:[br][br] I've been working on Super Famicast and I've really begun serious work NesterDC SE. I've already added zip support and the ability to play NSFs. I'll probably be making a nice jukebox feature to enhance this new functionality. [br] [br]I might also do a full re-port of NNNesterJ to deal with the compatibility issues in NesterDC 7.1. [br][br]That and some other rather interesting discussion can be found Here

Within the last two days, our visitors have posted very helpful reports in our Chanka Compatibility Forum Topic that now have been compiled for an extended Chanka Compatibility Chart. We would like to thank all contributors that have submitted their test results and hope that we will get even more entries soon so the developers of Chanka will be able to improve their work for the needs of our scene's coders! [br][br]So here it is, our[br][br]Chanka Compatibility Chart:[br][br]Alice Dreams - Seems to play perfectly. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]Another Asteroids Clone - works too.....way too fast submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]Battery - A homebrew game that is completely playable, I'm running it with the chanka_alpha build. There didn't appear to be any graphic glitches. It ran pretty darn good. submitted by: MetaFox & Vorrtexx[br][br]Beats of Rage - The emulator chokes before loading this one. submitted by: MetaFox [br][br]Bleem!cast for Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 2, Tekken - The way Bleemcast is designed doesn't allow for it to be read in PC CD-ROM drives. posted by: MetaFox[br][br]DC Linux - got it to the boot screen but it seemed to stop after that. submitted by: 1timeuser[br][br]DCastle - Boots to menu, runs very smooth. There were some graphical glitches, but the game runs and plays fine. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]DCDivx player runs fine submitted by Orkocattivo[br][br]DemoMenu - worked for me. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]Dream Inducer - The emulator chokes when trying to run it submitted by: MetaFox[br][br]DreamKey3 - Even if the modem is not emulated, DK3 runs fine. submitted by: Bedeux [br][br]DreamMSX - Run 50% of real speed on default and newgfx version, and play TOO FAST on capcom_hack version submitted by: quzar[br][br]DreamSNES 0.9.8 (libronin app) chokes after the first disclaimer. If I was to guess I'd say it doesn't like the TA-code used to fade out and blank the screen, but it's hard to tell without a monitor/debugger in the emulator. submitted by: zino[br][br]Feet of Fury - Doesn't get past the loading screen. submitted by: MetaFox [br][br]Giana's Return - The splash screen shows up submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]Jump N' Bump - by BlackAura seemed to load too. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]KOS Parallax Bubbles Example - Works Fine. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]KOS PVR Plasma Example - Works fine. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]KOS Tsunami Banner Example - Works fine. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]LinuxDC - seems to hang up after the kernel loading. submitted by: Bedeux[br][br]Melchior - Didn't Work. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]Revolver - Boots to Menu, when loading game just stops at loading screen. Loads fully with modifications. submitted by: Vorrtexx[br][br]ScummVM 0.6.0 (libronin app) seems to run resonably well, but the display keeps blinking on and off. submitted by: zino

burner0 just released a new version of SBInducer[br][br]SBInducer is a brilliant tool for creating your personal Dreamcast disc with different content like emus, games and apps on one disc! Here's what he said about this release:[br][br]Isn't it wonderfully ironic how anti-climatic releases are after you've put so much time into them? Consider this guy a public beta of sorts as always. If you're able to crash it, let me know, and I'll be happy to address any issues. [br][br]What's new eh? [br][br]-Complete code rewrite from scratch [br]-New gui that's not quite as cryptic, but still familiar [br]-Ability to customize disc contents (add/remove sbi) [br]-Readme files are displayed in the gui (no more rom dir hunting) [br]-Multi menu creation (Emus/Apps/Games/Demos) [br]-Single menu creation (All at once) [br]-Sbi2boot turns an sbi into plain files [br]-Consolevision Ip.bin logo replaced with a Sbiffy one [br]-No more forced Ip.bin logo (stored as Tools\Iplogo.mr) [br]-All included tools are updated to their latest versions [br]-A beautiful new default theme that Mikey242 and I teamed up on [br]-No silly format changes, all old files still work [br][br]And probably even more things that I can't think of offhand. [br][br][br][br]http://consolevision.com/members/sbiffy/Sbindv4.exe[br][br]Please post feedback...[br][br]Visit his website at www.sbiffy.com

The release of Chanka and the general buzz around the Dreamcast scene has seen a massive resurgence to the scene and proof of that is the fact that yesterday that our site record was smashed to bits with a new high of 11187, we are still a very young site (6 weeks offcially) but hopefully when v2 is released it will get even better [br][br]Our thanks to Martin 64 and Nathell.com who host us, you couldnt ask for a better host for any site.

Barret7sc has posted in our forums that he had done a report on the recent Midwest Gaming Classic, heres a little of that report:[br][br] The Midwest Gaming Classic was held this last weekend, May 22-23 2004. Myself, and a couple of my S+F cohorts went down to pimp our game Inhabitants for the Sega Dreamcast, which is being published by The GOAT Store. The short story: it rocked. [br][br]I was really excited about getting down there, seeing my work published, being able to sound like a carnival barker as I tried to draw people in to play at the demo kiosks. I hate people, but I love gatherings. We flew down a day early so we could get our wits about us, check in with the GOAT Store crew, and generally check the place out. By the way Midwest Airlines is awesome if you ever need to fly from DC to the midwest, or vice versa. [br][br]We got in touch with Dan Loosen of the GOAT store that Friday evening and helped setup the 16 or so Dreamcasts and monitors, getting 4 just for Inhabitants, and 2 to demo the Helibomber DC port, and any other projects we wanted to show off. It was a lot of work getting everything done, and we were a bit disappointed that due to a manufacturing glitch, the pressed CD's of Inhabitants were not there. Oh well, we did the job with CD-R copies, and took pre-orders. Still, having the discs probably would have helped us sell a few more copies. Well, anyways. [br][br]We went to sleep that evening, and woke bright and early to get down and make sure everything was plugged in and running. After running into some trouble with the Dreamcast VGA boxes, we finally got all the kiosks working. We had an awesome display, with large format prints of the box art of Inhabitants, Maqiupai, and Feet of Fury, the three homebrew releases that the GOAT store has done so far. They really went all out in getting everything set up. It was really busy that first day, but the Dreamcast section started out a little slow. Throughout the day it picked up and we got a chance to wander around the show. I drank some Bawls from the Bawls girl, and bounced around with my caffeine high. I talked to a lot of people, was proud to show off the game, had a good response from Helibomber, even having one guy who played it suggest changing the army guys into women heading to a shoe sale. My good friend Metafox has posted news in the forums that he has made a report on the Midwest Gaming Classic, heres a little from that Report:[br][br] Now that the hustle and bustle of the Midwest Gaming Classic is over, Dream On can get back to business, and continue to cover the latest goings-on in the Dreamcast homebrew community. But first, what would be the sense of attending the MGC without a report on the show?[br]The Dreamcast's presence at the Midwest Gaming Classic was amazing. There were 17 monitors that allowed for play for six different games. The three games for sale by The Goat Store, Feet Of Fury, Inhabitants, and Maqiupai were each given four monitors for their respective games, and were always gathering a group of people around them. The other games which were playable at the show were DCastle, Boll, Helibomber DX, and Revolver.[br][br]The paper version of this magazine was also given out to a select few attendees of the show to gauge the plausibility of a commercial release. The magazine did unexpectedly well, which was very nice after a lackluster appearance by Cyberdog Castle, so a commercial release of the magazine will be happening in June. No price point has been set yet, but a cover disc will definately be included. [br][br]Read the rest Here [br][br]Thanks to Metafox for a good report

[br]I decided today to pull the CPS1 MAME based emulator, as I feel it is to old, and not up to the standard I am trying to achive for the Dreamcast, and it's users. I re-played it today, and I didnt realize how far we have actually come in a year. I dont recommend the emulator to anyone, and for the new people to the scene, I hope the CPS1 experience doesnt throw you off. I'm going to be going through my site this week, and things I deem unfit will be pulled. If you really want the emulator, I will retain a personal copy and I will email by request only.[br][br]If sites could remove it from mirrors that would be helpfull my version belongs in the past.
