We all know how rare a Dreamcast Broadband adapter is, especially when your working in the dcdev scene, testing code is a whole lot faster with these babies.[br]I guess i'm lucky then, got one a while ago in the last production, no one's going to get their hands on my beauty...[br]Well it looks like they want too![br][br]The usually pretty cool guys at lik-sang are now going over people who they sold a broadband adapter too, and emailing them telling them they can get $50 for them (well what i was offered, anyone had more?), if they return them back to them (obviously working models), and a email which sounds like they presume your going to do![br][br]Although they do end with "We are sending you this email because many DC programmers out there can't get a[br]DC Broadband Adapter, Sega discontinued the item :/"[br][br]Come on lik-sang, some of us who have them are in dc programing scene.[br][br]Anyone else had that email, post in the forum![br][br]lik-sang

Near on 8 weeks ago i had the thought of opening my own Dreamcast Emulation site to sit alongside the great sites that already are here, i then bought the DCEmu.co.uk domain and managed to get hosting off the excellent Martin64 and his Emulation64 Network.[br][br]After that my good friend and very highly respected in the console scene, LyonHrt joined me on the project to iron out the news as i was struggling, i then made well over 100 pages for every emulator for the Dreamcast, now we move onto last week, when another ultra cool old DCEmu scener Soully asked if i needed help and so Soully and LyonHrt have taken the ideas from this site and came up with an amazing design which is both fresh and inovative.[br][br]Now only 3 days ago the man from BooB! Darksaviour69 has joined the staff and so the family grows [br][br]Nows the time for those in the Dreamcast scene who would like to get involved in a new Dreamcast site ran by people who are level headed, who like a laugh and most importantly will do their very best to support this great scene we have.[br][br]Saying that we are looking for [br][br]Newsposters[br][br](if you post for another site we would still love you to post for us and if you are a coder it would be great to get word of mouth from the original source)[br][br]Forum Moderators[br][br]At some stage we will need forum moderators who will keep the peace but not be too hard, i prefer telling people they have done wrong in a polite way then being nasty straight away.[br][br]Feature Writers[br][br]Ive called it feature writers but we need people who can do reviews, write a goos FAQ explaing the scene, write a paragraph about each emulator explaining what it is and so on, also people who can analyse the Dreamcast scene and write about it.[br][br]Cover Artists[br][br]This is a two edged sword we want on our pages the best 3 covers for each emu/homebrew release but also for new releases too.[br][br]Tutorials Writer[br][br]An area where we need a great person to write tutorials aimed at helping those who are new or need help in understanding how to burn.[br][br]There must be more areas that ive missed but if you reply i or LyonHrt will do our best to answer and hopefully we will have a bigger team soon.[br][br]One thing to note, i dont care about what happenned on other sites, all of us do things that are mistakes and if this site can give a chance to get people back in the scene then im all up for it.[br][br]Laters [br][br]wraggy

Over at Lik Sang thay have posted the following news concerning Feet of Fury:[br][br] The music's pumping. The arrows are flying towards the top of your screen and you're in the groove. Suddenly your opponent cackles and your arrows are going twice as fast and yet more spaced out. You got distracted by the anime cutie in the background, but you've got it covered and now it's their turn -- their arrows are waving around like drunken sailors and you're both fighting to survive. Welcome to the wacky world of Feet of Fury, a dance game with a far stronger emphasis on player-vs-player combat.[br][br]The first homebrew game to make it to professional release just got 25% cheaper, now shipping within 24 hours for only US$ 14.90 ~ If you did not yet acquire your copy, now would be the perfect opportunity![br][br]Another good piece of news related to this game is that Cryptic Allusion (studio behind this game) has made the complete source code available for free download, which will come as a great help for all amateur coders out there. Let's hope this all results in quality improvements and quantity increases of homebrew developments for the Dreamcast. The source code of Feet Of Fury is available at CAgames. [br][br]Check out the link above for more info.

Ian Michael has updated his website with this news:[br][br] In my haste (and tiredness) to release the much anticipated NEOCD/SDL DC emulator port, I forgot to make the bin clean and remove the bios. I have taken the download away due to this error. It was not intentional. I will hopefully be putting a clean version up soon. Sorry for the inconvienience. [br][br]

Metafox and Ss_teven are back with a new SDL version of their Laser emulator, heres the newspost in full:[br][br] Laser-SDL v1.0 Revision 1.beta1 Dreamcast[br][br]Steven Harris (tty01, better known as ss_teven) read my post on my Dreamcast development site about not having Laser up until I got it converted into SDL. He's taken matters into his own hands, and produced a beautifully working version of Laser using the SDL library. I'm truly excited that he has decided to come back to working on Laser after taking a much-deserved break.[br][br]I took some time over the last couple of days to get it working for Dreamcast. I've got a simple version working very nicely with Space Invaders. It uses a crappy routine to expand the playing area by 2, so as to be seen better on televisions. The playing area is now 512*512, as compared to 256*256, but there are lines missing inbetween the pixels drawn). This is barely noticeable on television sets (at least NTSC), but is very noticable on VGA monitors. [br][br]I'm going to work on it a bit more (think of a better way to stretch the playing area), and add a menu for selecting games, but I decided to release the binary and source for those interested.[br][br]Thanks to: Steven Harris (this has really become his project, more than mine, since he rewrote Laser to use a driver system - and now with the SDL rewrite), Mike Greene (the author of SinVader - the Space Invaders emulator that I was generously allowed to extend for my first version of Laser way back in January 2000. Laser is much different now, and hardly any of his original code remains, but Laser wouldn't be here today if it weren't for him), ATani (for porting Laser 0.9 to Win32 and being an overall cool guy), Domenico Dato (for porting Laser 0.9 to Linux, BeOS, and WinCE. I still kick myself for losing the zipfile of the WinCE port, and pimping the BeOS port as if it were my own. You're greatly appreciated Domenico - much more than I ever showed), Caz (for converting Laser 0.9 into SDL for the BeOS port), Marat Fayzullin (for the Z80 and M6502 cores that are used in Laser), Bart Tryzlandowski (for support early on in my Laser endevours, and allowing me to use his FindOption routine from Genital), JoseQ (for promoting Laser like crazy with his famed rumor mills), tkchris (for promoting Laser, and bugging me to update the code for Linux. It only took about 2 years, and even then it wasn't me who did it. Yes, I'm lazy, and I'll admit it. :P), and everyone who has supported Laser for the past 4 years. It is truly appreciated. Thanks [br] [br][br]Download from our LaserSDL page here --> http://www.dcemu.co.uk/lasersdl.shtml

News about the recent Dreamcast Releases and more from Lik Sang [br][br] Within four weeks only, not less than three great games have been launched on Dreamcast. Since all three are in Japanese version and not every Dreamcast user out there has an import enabling solution at home, we have added Boot DC-X Packs to our catalogue, allowing you to get Castle Of Shikigami 2, Psyvariar 2: The Will to Fabricate or Puyo Puyo Fever along with this neat import reader for a discounted price. [br][br]Nice to see the Dreamcast getting some commercial help with new games, just a pity they werent for Pal and US too.[br][br]If only companies would release some of the unfinished/unreleased games as demos at a price of say $10[br][br]We can but dream

LyonHrt over at DCEvolution has posted this rather interesting news from a Games Magazine:[br][br] You know everytime i see something to do with the dreamcast dev/emu scene mentioned (even in a small article) it makes me proud to see it, (I tell people hey i know that guy! Or i tested that!) So when you see a big article you just have to tell the world (kinda like what i'm doing now).[br][br]In a fairly new mag (current issue #2), called Retro* Gamer (a uk mag by Live publishing), has a nice feature on the console dev scene, including of course the beloved Dreamcast, and even mentions www.consolevision.com (what no mention of dcevolution, i'm outraged...), which covers everything from dcgen and dreamspec to scummvm.[br]And also it has a nice interview with Dreamspec and DC64 creator Big Boy (which hopefully will have a snipit online soon).[br][br]Also continuing the subject, the ever popular game Beats of Rage got a mention in xbox mag xboxgamer as part an A to Z of xbox hacking. [br][br]Head on over to DCEvolution for more info.
