ljsdcdev, BlueCrab's RPG engine has been updated exactly 1 year after the release of ljsdcdev Demo 6. [br][br]The ljsdcdev engine is a complete rewrite of the old ljsdcdev RPG code. The new base is meant to be modular, and to allow for "mods" (allowing people to use the engine to create their own games, independent of ljsdcdev RPG). Basically, the aim is to create a RPGMaker-like environment in the end where a programming newbie could create their own RPG with minimal work.[br][br]You can download ljsdcdev Demo 7, and ljsdcdev Engine 0.9.0 from the Project Page: http://sf.net/projects/ljsdcdev

Axlen is undergoing the final stages for his USB-to-serial module coder's cable. For those who don't know, this cable takes advantage of the high speed of the Dreamcast's serial port and the high speed of USB ports to utilize people to upload software with DC-load IP a lot faster than your standard serial coder's cable. The speeds are comparable to the Broadband adapter, but the USB-to-serial cable will be alot cheaper. Axlen mentioned that after weighing the costs of parts, labor, etc., he has estimated the price to be around $49.00 US. He's looking for your comments on how he should accept preorders, and any general questions or concerns about the cable in general, in this topic on the Consolevision message boards.

The Ascension of Vigil, Tyne's Quake brawling mod, has been updated again. Here's what's new:[br][br]- Fixed up menu sprites so they're dimensions of 2, this means menu.bsp now loads and works on Dreamcast.[br]- A bunch of new sound effects for monsters, I got tired of hearing regular quake sounds; almost all quake sound effects are replaced.[br]- Tweaked the Wall Jump, it allows Vigil to jump higher and farther & The Wall Jump Kick has been tweaked so it's easier to aim and always moves forward (older one would eventually slow down..)[br]- Completely recoded the physics for smacking enemies around[br]- Completely recoded the way air combos work, it's now smoother and works overall better (This change and the one above haven't affected gameplay that much..)[br]- Found a bug that a person can take advantage of to have infinite lives. When you're dead and Vigil hasn't landed on the ground the user can backflip out of it in mid-air and remain in an undead state similar to the corpse bug, fixed![br]- Rewrote some of the fireball spells code, it's perfect now.[br]- Improved Monster AI, they can also all run now![br]- Another AI improvement now gives monsters magic attacks as demonstrated by the Hell Knight. He's now a completely done monster![br]- The Ascension of Vigil now has a final score displayed when you finally hit game over[br]- More attractive game over text[br][br]Download Here

From their site:[br]Today, Dreamcast-Scene went online again, after there were no action happening on the main side of it for months (see our history what happend in the meanwhile). We also present you a brandnew website with state of the art XHTML, a powerful PmWiki and phpBB system in the background and the possibity for everyone to submit new content or edit it in the news, database, scene and lifestyle pages![br][br]But our motto "power to the people" also means a lot of responsibility for the active sceners who want to contribute articles on Dreamcast-Scene: Keep an eye on the text formatting rules, correcting grammar and misspellings of the non-native English spreakers, act for the collective good and don't fake, spam, delete or adulterate articles or news.[br][br]Remember: Dreamcast-Scene is a non-profite project and many people sacrifices time and money for it to make it as good as possible.[br][br]And now, let the scene rise again![br][br]Dreamcast-Scene.com[br]

Since April the 11th of this year when the site officially opened we are nearing the Million visitors (a few hundred away), to say the Dreamcast isnt a console supported commercially (with the odd exception) and also the fact that the Dreamcast scene already had 5 mainstream emulation/homebrew sites and any new site would face a massive uphill battle to get visitors to visit a new site, we have done well.[br][br]Originally started as a solo project of mine because of my frustration of the stagnancy of the Dreamcast scene and the lazyness of siteops to update their pages, i quickly found a site design off my friend James (webmaster of Xbox Rules.com), the design was from a site that never really got going so it was decided to use it for DCEmu UK.[br][br]Next part of my journey was to find the best host for this site, i contacted my friends Keith ( Emufanatics) and Passive (Emuhelp) and with thier help got in contact with Martin64 the admin of the Emulation64 Network, luckily for me he said yes to taking on a site that would need lots of space and bandwidth too.[br][br]Onto choosing a name for the site was next and there was so many that to choose from that i decided to keep the name short and sweet so the name DCEmu UK was born, although we would gladly love the Dreamcast.com .net domains .[br][br]So in March i started the task of finding every emulator for download and so began the massive task of finding every emulator released for the Dreamcast, in that month i told a couple of close friends about the project and Soully and LyonHrt came aboard to help me with this site and also to help with the as yet unseen v2 of our site.[br][br]Which leads me nicely to the day we opened and since then its been a great ride with high moments being the amazing 13,000 visitors in one day, the 5 slashdots, the amazing interviews, the hosting of Chui and forums, the joining together of the International Dreamcast scenes.[br][br]My thanks to all these people so far in helping this site, LyonHrt, Soully, Darksaviour69, Wacko, Captain Skyhawk, Martin 64, Keith, Passive, DCDayDreamer, Curt Grymala, Dr Zoidberg, Hawq, Metafox, Chui, Pablo, Talfi, Ron, Propellor, Christuserloeser, ace and many more.[br][br]Lets get to that 2nd Million asap

Storminator16 (Will Sams) has got Storm-studios.net back online! [br][br]but the bad news is Dreamgamer Show: Good idea, no time to execute[br]Will posted[br]It's just not going to happen via Storm! Studios, but I wish someone else picks up the idea. Honestly, I haven't even spoken to Chris since the first week I brought this idea up and I've been way to busy to do it anyway. With future endeavors to tie up my time even more I'm just going to have to let this boat sail. Feel free to discuss in the "Off Topic" forum.

SoftVMS 1.9, the emulator for the Dreamcast VMU, has been released in three flavors - source, AmigaOS binary and DC binary.[br][br]Here's what's new:[br][br][*]Now contains a port for the Dreamcast, so that you can play the games directly from the memory cards. Also supports saving (perfect for naming Chaos in SA2 .[br][*]Sound support (not implemented for (Win)DOS port).[br][*]AmigaOS4 support[br][*]Some minor bugfixes I think, it was a long time since the last release... :-9[br][*]Also, there is a working Netscape plugin for .LCD files included.[br][br]Thanks to sqrt(-1)+1 for the news.

Dan Potter has posted in this topic at CAgames about their new 3D engine for their new game, Tryptonite.[br][br]The Tryptonite 3D engine is the unimaginatively named Vortex (after Tsunami). As I said, it allows for full screen 2x1 anti-aliasing, dynamic lighting, environment mapping, and fake phong light reflections. I now present a screen shot taken from the DC frame buffer, rendered with Vortex.[br][br]This hasn't been modified in any way except to scale it down to 320x240 to not take up so much forum space. [br][br]Make what you will of our choice of test beds for the 3D... [br][br][br]thanks to Qatmix for the news
