The famous Sokoban is a classic puzzle invented in Japan, and have been represented in the world of video games in many formats.Over the years there have been many versions of the game for all platforms, and continuously new collections of standards are created. This is a small engine that allows you to play any level can create because we have modified to support the format more rendering traditional levels Sokoban:LinkNot only that, also can select any level of those in the game with the PAD (buttons X and Y).And with the B button is used to restart a level (nice touch: you can not go back in the middle of a level ... hehehe). So that also is a challenge for you, we've added 52 levels (with evil xD) extracted this web:Link. If you manage to complete all, you have my infinite Kudos !!!: D: D

The green/gold GDEMUs turned out really nice, I like them even more than the black ones. Here’s a photo but it really doesn’t do them any justice:
It’s been a year since I’ve started making GDEMUs so I dub these 3 units Anniversary Edition ones. They will now undergo extended testing and should ship early next week.
And before you ask – I’m not planning on making any more green/gold units for now, but might try again sometime in future.

News:
- The good: SD card sockets arrived and I’ve restarted my assembly line.
- The bad: All preorders are now closed, lists are full for weeks in advance.
I keep getting tons of emails asking for another GDEMU production run – yes, there will be one, but I don’t yet know when exactly. My best guess is “in few weeks”, with a very broad definition of “few”. Pestering me about it is not going to speed up things.
I HAVE NOT, AND WILL NOT START ANOTHER WAITING LIST UNTIL THE DATE OF NEXT PRODUCTION RUN IS KNOWN. NO, I WILL NOT MAIL YOU, OR THE FEW DOZENS OF OTHER INTERESTED PEOPLE, PERSONALLY WHEN I DO OPEN THE PREORDERS. WATCH THIS BLOG, IT’S HERE FOR A REASON.
That should hopefully make things clear.

After skipping a week due to a rather large magazine ending up a little too big to finish on time, we return with the re-release of Sega Pro issue 8.
As usual this remastered version has been inspected one more time to remove any spots that might have been missed the first time around, before going through the new batch settings to get the overall look of the magazine as close to the original as possible.
In the earlier version of this magazine, certain colours ended up looking fluorescent, even though in the physical magazine they didn't. This has been fixed with this re-release and now looks spot on once again.

If you’re a fan of video game systems of yesteryear then you are probably familiar with RetroPie. For those who aren’t, RetorPie is a collection of software and video game emulators that can run on a Raspberry Pi. The package makes it easy to get your fix of old games without having to own a bunch of consoles or loose your breath blowing on cartridges.
[brooksyx] already had a broken Game Gear, Raspberry Pi and a 4.3 inch LCD screen kicking around so he thought it would be a good idea to put them together into a handheld RetroPie. Clearly, the new screen was not going to fit in the old screen’s place. The Game Gear’s case was cut and the bezel from the new LCD screen was epoxied in place, gaps filled and finally sanded.
The screen is not the only modifications done to the case. Down on the bottom right of the case front [brooksyx] added 4 buttons for the N64 C-buttons. Out back the battery compartments and cartridge slot were filled in.
This project isn’t done yet and we are excited to see how it comes out. If you’re digging this RetroPie portable, you may like this Game Gear with an unmodified case or this large-screened Game Boy.

I was postponing this entry in hope the situation will resolve itself but alas… Long story short, you’re looking at another delay. I’m just about to run out of SD card sockets, obviously I’ve ordered more weeks ago but it seems like the distributor messed up somewhere – so my supplier has moved the delivery date to first week of April and frankly I don’t feel confident it’ll be kept.
This is actually a pretty strategic part and I usually keep an ample stock but there are limits – I’m not a warehouse and these are not dirt cheap either, so by the time I decided to purchase more it was already gone from the inventory and put on order. This is worse than usual because it will affect both GDEMU and Rhea.
Now, if the early April delivery date is not pushed back further it’ll only be a week or so before I can resume work, but if not you’ll just have to wait some more.
In other bad news, some time ago I created this:
It’s a 20 to 21-pin cable, made to test a theory. It did it’s job and by that I mean it verified that you can’t just put a 20-pin Rhea into 21-pin Saturn. Won’t work, unless all you’re interested in is CD audio playback. The 21-pin models have a sligthly different protocol and need a few more signals to work properly – so basically at this point a universal ODE for Saturn is rather unlikely. Too many things would have to be put on the PCB, thus raising the cost and complexity. Plus I would not be able to create one without making some changes to the existing 20-pin model, and that would mean two separate FW files anyway. And if I have to do separate FW then I might as well just do a separate PCB just for the 21-pin Saturns and leave existing (and proven) design as-is.
In fact I might even pick a different name for new ODE as people are already confused by the whole 20/21 pin issue, plus VA designations. But that is something still TBD I guess.
On the bright side, I did promise you this:
Gold-plated PCBs for GDEMUs are exactly the same version as the latest HAL ones, except more expensive to me. But somewhat easier to solder so I’ll be sticking with those from now on.
Plus I hope the break, if there is any, will finally give me some time to do serious PCE work. I need to get that prototype running because Saturn was supposed to be a quick side project but between GDEMU delays and very, very busy work schedule I have now it basically took over everything else. It’s not a time wasted though, Saturn gave some serious problems at first and I learned a lot from that.
One last thing, quite important one: PayPal has changed it’s UI and while it seems to work faster, I consider it less useful. I can no longer issue group payment requests and have to do each one separately. I also don’t see transaction status in the browsing list so I can’t easily tell which ones I’ve updated with tracking number and which ones are fresh and not processed yet. So I use email notifications but those sometimes don’t come. So, if you pay and then nothing happens for more than 3 days, mail me. But not sooner please, I don’t need even more junk mail in my inbox.
Also, pretty please, DO NOT give me your full shipping address when ordering, unless that address is different from your PayPal address – this only makes me check everything twice for nothing. All I need is your country/region to make sure I can ship there. On the other hand if you wish to provide a different shipping address make sure you point that out clearly, and that you give it to me before you pay. Otherwise I might see the PayPal email first and ship to the wrong address.

March 30th, 2015, 20:18 Posted By: wraggster
On July 15, 1983, the Famicom was released in Japan. The console, later rebranded in the west as the Nintendo Entertainment System, would go on to change video games forever. Did you know, though, that the Famicom wasn’t the only gaming system released on that day? It was joined on shelves by the SG-1000, the very first home console manufactured by Sega.
You couldn’t write something that poetic. Two gaming giants, who would spend the next two decades locked in a bitter struggle for video game dominance (until one of them heroically fell in battle), releasing their first proper home consoles (Nintendo’s previous machines hadn’t allowed for the swapping of game cartridges) on the same day? It’s perfect.
Well, it was perfect for Nintendo. For Sega, the SG-1000 wasn’t quite the success story.
Poor sales in its native Japan meant that the console would only survive for around three years. But in those three years, the SG-1000 led quite the charmed life. It was redesigned only a year after release (the SG-1000 II), with a new casing and everything. It strangely saw an almost immediate release in Australasia, the beginnings of a relationship which would see Australia and New Zealand become perhaps Sega’s most loyal western market throughout the '80s and early '90s.
The SG-1000 was even re-released in Japan as a personal computer, the SC-3000, its more practical slant and built-in keyboard making it ultimately more popular than the console it was originally based on.
If you’re American and until now have no idea what I’ve been talking about, that’s understandable; the SG-1000 was never officially released in the United States (though a local console called the Telegames Personal Arcade could play its games thanks to some shady design). It never made it to the United Kingdom, either, or Germany, which are only three of the four biggest console markets in the world.
It was, for what it’s worth, a big hit in Taiwan.
While all this makes it sound like the SG-1000 was a bit of a misfire, it was still important in the development of Sega’s home console business. The system’s card slots were later used by the first edition of the more popular Sega Master System, and indeed, a planned third iteration of the SG-1000 (the Sega Mark III, below, probably my favourite console design of all time) was transformed mid-development to become the Master System itself.

This week we present you with the latest issue of Dreamcast Magazine by Paragon Publishing. This time it's issue number 6 which was released in February of 2000.
There's tons of great content in this issue so let's take a quick look with our previews for this magazine:
We start of with the wild and wonderful game by BioWare: MDK 2. Then we look at a game that would end up being finished, but sadly never get an official release: Half-Life for Dreamcast. We move on to another classic gem with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and finish up with yet another game that sadly never made it to the Dreamcast but stayed Arcade exclusive: Daytona USA 2.

Running vintage console emulators on a Raspberry Pi seems to be the thing all the cool kids are doing. The coolest RetroPie builds take a vintage console – usually of the Nintendo genus – stuff a Raspi in there somehow, and Bob’s your uncle. [Phil Herlihy] over at Adafruit is throwing his hat into the ring with a similar build. For this one, though, he’s using Sega’s oft-maligned Game Gear. He might actually get more than a few hours out of the battery with this one, and the battery is rechargeable, too. You can’t beat that.
The build begins with tearing down an old Game Gear, chopping up the PCB to save the button contact, and starting to fit all the components in there. The display is completely replaced with a 3.5″ composite display, a bit larger than the 3.2″ display found in a stock Game Gear. That’s not a problem, there’s a surprising amount of space behind the bezel, and if you’re good enough with an xacto blade and a file, it will look stock.
The rest of the components include an amplifier board, battery charge regulator, a 2500mAh LiPo, and a Teensy to read the buttons. There are a few modifications required for the Pi, but the finished device presents a USB port to the outside world; keep a keyboard by your side, and this is a portable Pi in every respect.

Sonic X-treme should have been Sonic the Hedgehog's 3D debut on the Saturn, except it was cancelled in 1997. Diehard fans haven't given up on the game, though, and someone recently ported Sonic X-Treme onto modern PCs. The dream of Sonic X-treme will never die, it seems!
The news was announced on the Sonic Retro forums to much joy and celebration.
This is just the start. There's only one level in the current built, but they're hoping to add more. However, We'd like to point out that this is a single level release.( More builds and levels to come later !)
We would also like you to know that this is an almost as is port of the engine (Almost as how the original developers had left it, A snapshot in time "if you will".
This first public release consists of a Jungle level, which I like to refer to as "The E3 Jade Gully level" since it was shown in one of the E3 96 Promo videos.

The demise of Sega was not inevitable and can be blamed on two decades of bad decision making.
That’s according to for Sega of America CEO and current LeapFrog vice chairman Tom Kalinske.
"It could have been avoided if they had made the right decisions going back literally 20 years ago,” Kalinske toldGames Industry of the company’s inability to compete in the modern console market. “But they seem to have made the wrong decisions for 20 years.
"One of the key reasons why I left Sega is when we had the opportunity to work with Sony, when [Sony Interactive CEO] Olaf Olafsson, [Sony Corporation of America president and CEO] Mickey Schulhof and I had agreed we were going to do one platform, share the development cost of it, share the probable loss for a couple years on it, but each benefit from the software we could bring to that platform.
“Of course, in those days, we were much better at software than they were, so I saw this as a huge win. We went to Sony and they agreed, 'Great idea.' Whether we called it Sega-Sony or Sony-Sega, who cared? We go to Sega and the board turned it down, which I thought was the stupidest decision ever made in the history of business.
“And from that moment on, I didn't feel they were capable of making the correct decisions in Japan any longer."
Kalinske went on to address former market rival Nintendo, saying that bringing Mario to smartphones would be a sensible business decision.
"I don't think [Nintendo] should give up hardware or consoles," Kalinske addedd. "I am surprised that they haven't formed a division to extend the IP. I'd love to play some of their games on my iPhone or iPad.
“It's really a form of marketing for them in a sense. They wouldn't even need to make that much money off it, but it would keep their brands relevant with the users, including people that are older, like me. So it seems to me it's a marketing mistake, but I don't think they should give up what they're doing because they're damn good at it."

As CEO of Sega of America in the early 1990s, Tom Kalinske oversaw the company during its glory days, when all eyes in the industry were glued to the titanic struggle for console superiority between the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Times have changed, to put it mildly, and Sega is now a shell of its former self. Where did things go wrong? According to Kalinske, Sega's downfall was failing to partner with Sony on a new platform, and the bad decisions kept piling on from there. Sega's exit from hardware "could have been avoided if they had made the right decisions going back literally 20 years ago. But they seem to have made the wrong decisions for 20 years."

Giana’s Return aims to be a worthy UNOFFICIAL sequel of “The Great Giana Sisters” and has been recently updated for Dreamcast to match to it’s latest v1.10 version. Ported to Dreamcast by Indiket.
Evil Swampy and his followers have stolen the magic ruby, which made it once possible for Giana and Maria to return from their dream. Many creatures are after this ruby, but does it really has power, or was it just a coincidence? As this is not bad enough, Swampy fell in love at first sight with Giana’s sister Maria and shamelessly kidnapped her. She simply has been at the wrong place at the wrong time. You will now have to take on the role of Giana and get back the magic ruby. And most important of all, save your beloved sister Maria and get home save!
Release notes:
Unfortunately we had a bug in Giana’s Return v1.10 for Dreamcast, which crashed the game after level 8. After some investigation Indiket was able to track the bug down. The version of mikmod used was a bit old and had to be updated to v3.3.7. The game works as expected again. Sorry Dreamcast users! Head over to the download section for the update and enjoy a crash free version.

Eight Queens by Sebastian Mihai is an implementation of the Eight Queens Problem on Sega’s unfortunate add-on to the Genesis, the 32x. Towards the end of the Genesis era, Sega’s plan was for the 32x to tide Genesis players over, until the release of the next-gen system, the Sega Saturn. It seems that Sega preferred planet code-names for their systems, as the internal name for the 32x was Project Mars.
This Sega 32x homebrew finds all solutions, whereby no two chess queens threaten each other (as in, share a row, column, or diagonal), on a standard chess board of eight by eight squares.

We present POWDER , a fully functional port for Sega Dreamcast !! Do not be alarmed if you do not hear anything because the game has no music or sfx! xD
And what will? Hmm, is an entertaining rougelike (set of dungeons), where we will have to face many enemies, cast spells, drink potions ... and more! : D. Will you reach level 25 and defeat the villain? Care engaging! DCEric offers us a short video so you see it in motion ("tricky" looks lol).
