This time, we feature the second issue of the Official Sega Magazine that was releases in February of 1994.
Keep in mind that when you come across pages that seem to have the wrong number compared what it says in the file name, this is not due to a mistake during the creation of the digital version. But instead a problem that seems to have occurred while putting the original magazine together before going to press. Everything has been kept in place and is representative of physical copy of this magazine.
Now let us take a look at the previews for this issue:
We begin with a look at the feature for Castlevania Bloodlines, followed by one for Sonic 3. Then we have a look at the Sega Multi-Mega/CDX. And finally we look at reviews for both WWF Rage in the Cage and Castlevania Bloodlines.

In facebook Isotope (the creators of Hypertension) ask if they want to see their new creation "Slave" on Dreamcast.
The game looks great, and the art style is fantastic. Hopefully out.

Look guys (and gals?), the backup list is not infinite. I closed the preorders for a reason – there are only so many GDEMU units to be made in this run and that’s it. One person asks for my mail and a day later I get more than 20 late preorders. And this is in addition to the people already on the list.
I got a bit of a house remodeling going on right now, this will last up to 2 weeks. Thanks to that the cold I caught has gotten worse and now I’m pretty much ouf ot action. This week is probably not going to be very productive. Also, I’m not checking my gmail as often now.
So, with all that in mind, I’m going to change the payment and shipping rules a bit, at least for now. So far I’ve only send payment request when I had something to sell packed away in a box, or I knew it could be ready in few hours. This approach has a drawback I already explained – if people are late with answering (or worse, don’t answer at all), you all have to wait more for your turn. From now on I will issue more requests then I have units ready, this will allow for faster shipping at the risk of some of you having to wait up to a week or so between paying and shipping. If you’re unhappy with it I can always return the money instead, all you need is ask.
One last thing – I’ve been asked, again, to host or join a forum. I don’t do that. There’re a lot of people out there with good ideas (or what they think are good ideas) but zero knowledge and/or experience, coupled with even shorter temper than I have, not to mention poor communication skills. So basically it’s an explosive mixture, and the fireworks are fun but a waste of time. In other words, I could be spending time on forums, or I could be working on my projects. Take your pick.

Spot the differences:
Black PCB will be available soon. I’m sorry but there is no choice of what you’ll get – unless you ordered 2 units and received only 1 so far, but in that case you got my mail and decided already. Other than PCB mask color the units are identical, all v5.3 models.
I’ve resumed shipping but after this unplanned pause people stopped checking their mail and/or PayPal account and respond only after a few days – which means I’m sitting on a bunch of units but can’t sell to another person until a week passes, since obviously I need to give the original buyer some time to act. This is partly my fault to begin with so again, I apologise. I’m about 50% done but I’ve ordered some more PCBs and parts to try and cover all the backup list entries.

Hello everyone, today I announce the public release of the new Open GL API for KOS that I have been working on!
I want to say thank you to those who have been following, and encouraging me along the way.
Also, thank you to the creators and maintainers of KOS, for allowing such things to be possible.
You will need the latest version of KOS for this API, as the API has introduced changes to KOS along the way.
You can get the library here:
http://sourceforge.net/p/cadcdev/libgl/ci/master/tree/
And the example code here:
http://sourceforge.net/p/cadcdev/kal...dreamcast/kgl/
Initially, my plan was to create a faster implementation of the API, and a better Z clipping mechanism.
That has certainly been accomplished, every vertex here is being run through my Z clipping algorithm:
However, I realized some more things could be done. I added Dynamic Vertex Lighting:
And Render-To-Texture is also now a part of the API:

Back again with some more Sega Saturn love courtesy of the official Sega Saturn Magazine.
Let's take a look at issue 17 from March of 2017.
Our first preview is for a fan favourite racing game that sadly never left the arcades: Scud Race. We then take another in-depth look at Fighters Megamix as well as the newly converted arcade racer Manx TT Superbike.
And for the final preview of this issue we look at Hexen by Probe Entertainment.
This issue of OSSM also marks the first release with the new calibration settings that we've been talking about in the forums. You might notice that the colour values now are much more representative of the look of the actual magazine, while retaining the vibrant look that makes the original magazine shine.
From here on out we will remaster the back catalogue and release them one set at a time, so keep an eye out for these much improved versions in the coming months.

I am convinced that many of you will have seen in other Dreamcasteras pages, but still, it is imperative that you be informed: D Elysian Shadows, the promising JRPG that takes years to be managed has been on Kickstarter! There are many types of reward, from a simple "Thank crack" the digital purchase of the game (PC and other systems), limited editions ... and much more!
<center><iframe height="360" src="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1945059142/elysian-shadows-next-gen-2d-rpg/widget/video.html" frameBorder="0" width="480" scrolling="no"> </iframe></center>
Possibly what interests us most is that you can "buy" physical edition for Dreamcast from $ 49! Yes, it is estimated that the game will be completed in December 2015. Eye to the data, there are 100 units that will be signed by the developers! : D In just two days they have already achieved $ 38.784 initial goal of $ 150,000 ... wow! You have time until August 31 ! As always, I leave the link below Official website Kickstarter project |

Some of you are getting impatient waiting for GDEMU payment request to arrive. Sorry about that – the plan was to do it faster this time around but the recent heat wave has put a stop to it. I have quite a few units assembled in 70% but that’s it. Finishing that, plus cleaning, plus initial program upload, plus testing – that takes time too. You’ll have to wait some more I’m afraid.
About the payment itself, it’s not 100% safe so to speak. I send the payment request from different mail address than the one you used for preordering. In itself it’s nothing strange but it raises the question – how do you know the request actually came from me and not someone else who is about to scam you out of your money. Well, if you have any doubts about that feel free to contact me first to confirm.
Also, do not send money to the preorder address. That email is not registered with PayPal – not only will I not claim that transfer, I have no way of promptly rejecting it either. That means it will be stuck for 30 days in PP system (and returned automatically to you after that time) as well as possibly prevent you from paying when I actually send the request – as you might not have another 100 Euro for that. Remember, I do not take any money up front, only when I actually have the GDEMU unit ready will I send the request. The lower you are on the list the longer that will take.
Lastly, I’ve decided to stop sending the paper inserts warning about possible dangers of installing the screw improperly. All this is explained on the Installation page, you are required to read all of that (and everything else I’ve prepared). In other words, if you manage to damage your Dreamcast or GDEMU because you couldn’t be bothered to read the instructions, I will laugh at you and call you stupid. So that we are clear on that. I’m happy to report that while there have been some minor accidents and issues with GDEMU, so far nothing that would actually break the device and/or console permanently. Please do try to keep it this way from now on as well.

via http://www.emucr.com/
DGen v1.33 is compiled. DGen/SDL is a free, open source emulator for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive systems. DGen isn't the best Mega Drive/Genesis emulator out there, but it works and it's probably the most portable. It's also perfect for command‐line freaks.
DGen Features:
- Game Genie/Hex codes support
- PAL/NTSC, fullscreen modes
- Joypad / joystick support
- OpenGL textured video output
- Portable (64‐bit, endian safe), runs in Windows using MinGW
- Screenshots, demos recording and playback
- Musashi and StarScream (x86‐only) CPU cores
- CZ80 and MZ80 (generic and x86‐only versions)
- 16‐bit, 8000 to 48000Hz sound output
- Support for 8, 15, 16, 24 and 32 bpp modes
- Archived/compressed ROMs support
- M68K debugger (contributed by Edd Barrett)
- hqx and scale2x scaling filters
DGen v1.33 Changelog:
* Joystick hat is now handled correctly.
* Added bindings to switch between previous/next save slots.
* Fixed joystick calibration issues.
* Fixed ROM corruption when using Musashi. ROM was not actually read-only.
* Fixed support for overlapping save RAM and ROM areas.
* When only Musashi is compiled-in, ROM is not byteswapped anymore to
improve performance.
* Disabled automatic ROM checksum fix as it prevents a few ROMs from
working correctly. Can still be done manually.
* Debugger: fixed Musashi disassembler to avoid truncating values read
from memory.
* Debugger: removed dependency on Musashi. Debugger support can now be
enabled without it, but it won't be able to disassemble M68K code when
doing so.
* Debugger: M68K debugging is now supported by all M68K cores (Musashi,
StarScream and Cyclone).
* Debugger: fixed Z80 endianness issue when displaying registers.
* Improved Z80 BUSREQ/RESET IO read emulation to fix a few games that rely on
prefetched PC data when reading these addresses.
* Implemented word (16 bit) memory callbacks for CZ80 to improve performance.
* Debugger: integrated dZ80, a Z80 disassembler.
* Fixed interrupt mode 0 in CZ80, fixes sound issues in a few games.
* Debugger: added full Z80 debugging support. It is supported by all Z80
cores (MZ80, CZ80 and DrZ80).
* Fixed CPU dump/restore routines which caused games to crash when switching
between CPU emulators.
* Fixed DrZ80 documentation about its Z80 state structure. Modified DGen
accordingly to solve dump/restore issues.
* Replaced bool_opengl_aspect with bool_aspect, which also forces scaling
by the same amount in both directions.
* Merged scaling and pre/postscale filters APIs. Crap TV filters and scalers
(scale2x, hqx) now use a similar API. Makes things a lot simpler.
* Added "stretch" filter to replace the basic scaler. As its name suggests,
this filter can stretch the picture to fit the window size and is as fast
as its predecessor. Useful when OpenGL cannot be used.
* Since filters can be stacked, added two combinations: scale2x + stretch and
hqx + stretch. Obviously slower than scale2x or hqx alone, but allows
picture to fit the entire window while looking nicer than simply
stretching it.
* Refactored screen initialization, window size is now completely free and
never modified by DGen/SDL (except during init).
* Disabled save/restore when no ROM is loaded.
* Added config_save and config_load commands.
* Calibration screen is not a CTV filter anymore and is always available.
* Added preliminary support for Sega Pico.
* Added VGM dumping functionality (vgmdump command).
* Fixed DAC data type for Cyclone (distorted sound due to improper type
conversion).
* Improved DAC rendering for much better sound quality (try Tiido's Tempo
Theme ROM). The default sound rate is now 44100Hz instead of 22050Hz.
* Added missing YM2612 and DAC information to save states.
* Fixed pbm2df issues on Windows by open files in text mode.
* Fixed bind_* commands to run only once.
* Added support for key/joystick button combinations bindings. In short,
pressing several buttons simultaneously to execute a command (such as
quitting DGen/SDL) is now supported. See documentation.
* Merged stopped and main events loops to remove some redundancy.
* Added standard bindings for Pico pen.
* Added mouse input support. Mouse buttons and axes can be bound like any
other controller (also added mou_* variables similar to joy_* and key_*).
* Fixed sound (re)initialization which sometimes caused sound to stop after
loading a ROM.
* Added various workarounds for fbcon (Linux's framebuffer). A common issue
is screen blinking due to double buffering, now disabled by default.
Inability to run as a normal user due to missing mouse input and hanging
during SDL_SetVideoMode() are also worked around.
* Usual bunch of miscellaneous bugfixes and improvements (libarchive API
update, many compilation warnings and other issues introduced by recent
changes).
