SSF Test Version (11/11/06) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.
SSF Test Version (11/11/06) Changelog:

DGen/SDL is a Sega Genesis emulator for Linux / SDL.
Quote:
v1.27 <- v1.26
* Documentation clean-up, sample.dgenrc update.
* Compilation fixes for MZ80.
* When both Musashi and StarScream are available, default to Musashi since it provides better emulation.
* Imported CZ80 0.91. This Z80 emulator is pure C and works better than the C version of MZ80. This means that on non-x86/32 bit hardware, games that previously didn´t have sound now work properly (Sonic 2 for instance).
Thanks to DGen PSP which implemented CZ80 first.
* Modified CZ80 to work properly on big-endian machines.
* When both CZ80 and MZ80 are available, CZ80 is now the default.
* DGen can now be compiled without any external modules. MZ80, CZ80, Musashi and StarScream can all be disabled.
* There´s now a toggle key (F10 by default) to switch between MZ80, CZ80 or neither.
* The Musashi/StarScream toggle key can now disable them both.
* New rc variables for selecting default emulators.
* FPS are now calculated every second for a more accurate message at exit.
* Implemented bool_show_carthead.
* Game Genie codes can now be entered interactively by pressing F9. They can also be disabled by re-entering them.
* Various other fixes.

With an emphasis on “exploring huge worlds and blasting off enemies”, GunLord bears more than a little reseblence to the Turrican series, and that’s no bad thing as the classic Commodore 64 run-’n'gun platformer is one of our favourite games. Developed by NGEV.TEAM, GunLord is available to pre-order for the Sega Dreamcast, Neo Geo MVS and Neo Geo AES.
With features such as nine huge stages, 16-bit hand-drawn graphics, Non-linear action with 8-way scrolling, big bad boss enemies, constant 60 FPS, Internet ranking and gameplay that harks back to the good old days of the Commodore 64, this is one game retrogamers, and non-retrogamers, should experience.
For more info, screenshots, downloads, and everything else GunLord related, head over to the official GunLord website. The GunLord trailer can be viewed and the game itself can be pre-ordered here.

Sonic Generations, the latest game in Sega's flagship franchise, has set a new pre-order record.
The Sonic franchise is now in its 20th year, and Sega is describing Sonic Generations as the "most anticipated" game in its history.
"This year is a milestone for Sonic and we want to make sure this is the best title that Sonic fans, old and new, have been waiting for," said Alan Pritchard, Sega of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing.
Sega is also organising a series of events to commemorate Sonic's anniversary, including a partnership with Six Flags theme parks, a "custom playground" in East Oakland's UpRising community centre, a pro-skating tournament, and a Sonic balloon for New York's Macy's Day Parade.
Sega has seen its software sales tumble in recent times. In October, the company lowered its revenue forecast for the half year ending March 2012.

NGev.Team continues to keep both the Dreamcast and Neo Geo in a state of near-life, with the "Eurostyle" (think Turrican) platformer GunLord. Featuring "9 stages of exciting 2D game play with over 45 unique enemy types," GunLord will be released on Neo Geo MVS cartridge (the format used in Neo Geo arcade machines) in December, with Dreamcast and Neo Geo home system releases following in 2012.
You might not think you need a new run-and-gun on your Neo Geo ... but you may just change your mind when you see the trailer.

As some of you have read in the mini talk, "Gromb" we notice the existence of our beloved emulator sega dreamcast console running on the xbox360 microsoft ... ...
The emu is based on the beloved nullDC and using the library is scheduled libxenon, that is a library used to create free and legal software for 360, similar to what happens in DC Kallisti.
The project started a little over a week at the hands of one "gligli" that seems to be quite a moving crack in it to xbox emus and already shows some interesting developments.
Units do not know but I hate to see our current systems emulated in dc? though I suppose it is a good thing: / is not it?

In Dreamcast.es we like to give and share news about the Scene. This time we heard the news by the French-speaking friends Dreamcast-news, we discover a new homebrew game for our console: Vigoroth livreur you (or in English: Vigoroth The delivery man).
Coming in a little more detail:
- Consists of 4 mini-games with score.
- The game is written in Fenix and using one version of Chui (0.84b I think).
- The gfx are clearly ripped from Pokemon Advance Nintendo DS (purists may correct me hehe).
- Playable in two languages: French and English.
- Operates in emus (nullDC).
Although, as we say in the Minich, the game was launched in April, not until now that the DC community has realized it. Personally, I'm glad to see that this library continues to game developers. So why is double joy confirms that the French scene is, much less, disappeared!
Find more information on its website, and downloads for various systems: http://vigorothlivreur.ucoz.com

It’s quite rare to find any Sega Master System coverage in magazines online, so it’s all the more welcome to have another fine Sega Pro issue digitally archived over at Out-of-Print Archive. Although there are some fine Mega Drive games covered in this issue from December 1991 – James Pond II, F-22 Interceptor and Decap Attack to name just three – the Master System was chosen for three of the four online articles that accompany the digital release. First up is the fabulous 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog, and the also impressive SMS versions of Mercs and Out Run Europa. To add some 16-bit action to the mix, the underrated Arcus Odyssey was picked from the many Mega Drive articles.
Be sure to check out page 72, which underwent some serious restoration work – see the Restoration Process feature for the full lowdown on how that badly damaged page was restored to its former glory. Sega Pro is available to download for free in both full resolution and iDevice versions. For the magazine’s editorial details and full contents, including links to all online articles and the downloads themselves, head over to the Sega Pro issue 2 catalogue page.

If you’re a fan of Speedball 2 then you will want to check out this prototype of the previously unreleased Beastball. Although released under Brutal Sports Football on the Jaguar, DOS and Amiga in 1993, the planned Mega Drive and SNES versions by Spectrum Holobyte were never released and remained lost to gaming… until now, for the Mega Drive, at least. As part of their ongoing summer of proto ROMs, MrMark0673 and BeaglePuss over at SegaAge continue to astound everyone with their findings of unreleased games.
As hinted at, Beastball is a futuristic sports game in the same mould as Speedball 2, but with the added ability of being able to throw or kick the ball into the goal. While there are the usual gameplay modes of League, Unfriendly, and Knockout, as well as the chance to spend earned cash on improving players’ stats, Beastball does have some pretty interesting features. While playing a match, you can expect to see weapons, bombs, shields, rabbit/turtle power ups/downs, decapitations and lots more.
The Beastball prototype ROM can be downloaded from the SegaAge forums.
