Sometime last year i made a video welcoming the Dreamcast SD Adapter. It shows some games and apps in which are compatible with the Dreamcast SD adapter via the Dreamshell OS. The Dreamcast SD Adapter has been getting quite popular for homebrew use. Other people use it for commercial gaming which isn't really legal but that doesn't matter as commercial gaming doesn't work to well with the SD Adapter anyways. So this video got over 3000 views on Game Reviewify and never even seen the light of day here on DCemu so now im presenting it to you.

Making cool glitched-up graphics from Ataris and Nintendos is old hat, but not much has been done with circuit bending slightly more modern consoles. [big pauper] found his old Sega Saturn in his grandma’s attic and wondered what secrets this forgotten box held. It turns out he can make some pretty cool sounds and even cooler glitched out graphics. The pic above is from Virtua Fighter; done correctly these glitched low-polygon graphics could easily find themselves in a very stylistic indie game.

Makaqu (engine of Quake for Windows and Dreamcast) has just released an update for Dreamcast (1.3.1). The main change over the 1.3 is that it has been tested on Dreamcast, and it has fixed the bug the analog stick. While remember, and there was an alpha 1.4, but found that did not work in our Dreamcast. Soon the author of Makaqu fix those bugs and will give us a workable 1.4
This release does not include the file PAK10.PAK, but there are binaries for Windows and Dreamcast, along with a map of evidence. Official Blog: http://makaqu.tumblr.com/ download (Google code): http://code .google.com / p / makaqu /

Corporation attempting to control losses with digital shift, portfolio trimming
[h=3]SEGA Corporation[/h]
[h=3]SEGA Sammy Holdings[/h]www.sega.com
SEGA has announced that it will be streamlining its EU and US operations, resulting in job losses and the cancellation of some titles.
The move comes in response to increased loss predictions for the forthcoming year-end financials, with net income projections slashed by almost 50 per cent to ¥18 billion from ¥38 billion for the year ending March 31, 2012.
For the same period in the year previous, SEGA Sammy recorded profits of ¥41.5 billion.
No indication of how many jobs will be lost at the publisher, but it seems that those which are cut will be taken from areas of the business focused predominantly on the EU and US market. The changes, intended to "create a smaller company positioned for sustained profitability," have been blamed on unfavourable market conditions in the West.
"Consumer Business centered on SEGA Corporation is expected to post operating loss in the year ending March 2012, due to the challenging economic climate and significant changes in the home video game software market environment in the U.S. and Europe," reads a SEGA press release.
"It is essential to streamline organizations in the field of home video game software in the U.S. and European markets, while shifting to a structure that corresponds to change in environment, including strengthening development in the field of digital content."
SEGA Press Release
"Given this circumstance, the companies determined that in order to actualize earnings recovery of the Consumer Business in the following period and after and return to a growth path, it is essential to streamline organizations in the field of home video game software in the U.S. and European markets, while shifting to a structure that corresponds to change in environment, including strengthening development in the field of digital content."
Games which are designed to appeal to European and American customers will be reduced, also, with only proven IP seeing continued development.
"We conducted detailed reviews of earnings projections for titles targeted toward the U.S. and European markets and decided to narrow down sales titles from the following period and after to strong IPs, such as 'Sonic the Hedgehog,' 'Football Manager', 'Total War' and 'Aliens' which are expected to continue posting solid earnings," continues the release.
"In accordance with this, we are canceling the development of some game software titles."
Although SEGA is still predicting a small profit for the year total, it does expect an "extraordinary loss" of ¥7.1 billion for the period as a result of the adverse conditions, of which ¥4.9 billion will be costs from the restructuring itself.
SEGA has been contacted for further details on how many jobs may be lost and which titles have been cancelled.

We really love when friendly competition leads to excellent hacking. Not too long ago, we showed you a nicely done Sega Genesis portable put together by console hacker [Downing] who challenged fellow hacker [EVIL NOD] to a build off. The two were hacking Sega consoles, [Downing’s] for personal use, while [EVIL NOD] was working on a commissioned build.
As you might have guessed, [Downing] finished first, but that doesn’t mean [EVIL NOD’s] console is anything but spectacular. His Sega Multi Gen is a portable Genesis console modified to play both NTSC and PAL games. It features a large 5” PSOne screen as well as the guts from an official 6-button Genesis game pad. The case was vacuum formed by [Downing], and is another example of his fine workmanship. The console looks as if it’s had the controller melted right into its face – a design that is sure to give you the authentic feel of sitting in front of your TV mashing away at the buttons.
Check out the video below to see an unboxing video that [EVIL NOD] put together before sending the console out to its new owner.

An HD remake of Yu Suzuki's beloved Dreamcast game Shenmue is not only on the cards - it's finished, and has been for over a year.
Speaking to Gamerzines, an anonymous tipster with ties to publisher Sega confirmed that remakes of both the original, and the 2001 sequel which was also released for Xbox, were in the can.
"Shenmue HD is real [and has been] finished for well over a year," the source said. "As is Shenmue II HD."
The report follows Sega's brand manager Ben Harborne hintingthat Shenmue would be the next Dreamcast game that the company would remaster for HD consoles, following the likes of Space Channel 5 Part 2, Sega Bass Fishing, and the upcoming Jet Set Radio.
The source claims that Sega has kept the games in a drawer while it establishes whether the franchise has a future. Suzuki is known to want to make a third game in the series, and timely re-releases of the first two games would be a useful way of raising the profile of the series ahead of the release of the third.
