News via http://www.emucr.com/2011/06/ssf-tes...on-110604.html
SSF Test Version (11/06/04) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.
SSF Test Version (11/06/04) Changelog:
Updated test version.
Fixed a bug that causes Apuriera Grandia titles

News via http://www.emucr.com/2011/06/nulldc-svn-r135.html
nullDC SVN r135 is released. nullDC is an open source Sega Dreamcast(DC) and NAOMI videogame systems emulator for Microsoft Windows. nullDC runs several Dreamcast games at good speed, with full sound and music. NullDC requires the latest version of Microsoft DirectX, the latest Visual C++ runtime libraries and optionally WinPcap for modem emulation. As usual for emulators, a dump of the original console BIOS is also needed. It has a plugin architecture, with several alternative implementations (some ported from Chankast) for graphics, sound, reading games burned to CD-ROMs (it cannot read GD-ROMs directly) or disk image files, memory cards, etc.
nullDC SVN Changelog:
r135
Fix for issues 257~258

Here I bring you a quick port GNUBOY (emulator gameboy / gameboycolor) with support for SD. One of the first emulator to be added SD support. This version has support for loading roms from the SD card, but only load roms from SD to load roms from any other means using the latest version of gnuboydc. You must copy the directories gnuboy (for configuration) and gbroms (for the roms) in the root of the SD Card for the emulator to work properly.
There is a development version that will bring visual improvements including a completely revamped interface, but that will have to wait.
Meanwhile there you have a small gift from neoblasts

Under most circumstances, our answer to the question "Should I buy a Dreamcast" is yes. If you don't have a Dreamcast, you should buy a Dreamcast. If you already have a Dreamcast, what if your Dreamcast breaks? What would you do then? Not play Plasma Sword, that's what.
But when that Dreamcast costs ¥38,000 ($469), we must be more reserved with our recommendations. That's the price PachimonTV gives to this handmade portable Dreamcast unit, shipping next month in Japan. We'll leave it to you to decide whether or not that's a fair price for the ability to play Shenmue on the go.
At the very least, it's a more elegant portable Dreamcast solution than the infamous Treamcast.

News via http://retroactionmagazine.com/retro...ally-archived/
The very first issue of Sega Pro – and the first for Paragon Publishing – has been digitally archived over at Out-of-Print Archive. Sega Pro was a very successful UK publication that was launched in 1991 and lasted right up to the Saturn’s demise. The magazine had such esteemed staff as Dominic Handy, Les Ellis and Damian Butt.
So what can you expect to see in a launch issue from November 1991? Well, how about news, reports from Japan and the US, tips, reviews of El Viento, Galaxy Force II, Shining in the Darkness, The Immortal and ToeJam & Earl on the Mega Drive, Shadow of the Beast and Xenon II on the Master System, Fantasy Zone, Factory Panic and Rastan Saga on the Game Gear. All this and more.
To accompany the release of issue one, four online articles have been chosen: Shining in the Darkness (Mega Drive), El Viento (Mega Drive), Toejam and Earl (Mega Drive) and Shadow of the Beast (Master System). The full issue contents list and download links can be found at the Sega Pro issue 1 webpage.

News via http://retroactionmagazine.com/retro...lly-preserved/
The underrated MegaTech was one of the many magazines that I lost in the unfortunate moving incident of 1999, so it’s fantastic news that meppi has started digitally preserving the issues. MegaTech was the first magazine in the UK dedicated to the Sega Mega Drive and was EMAP’s first publication to feature fully digitised screenshots. In fact, the lengths editor Paul Glancey and his team went to producing this flash look for each issue was staggering with even relevant screenshots taken for the tips section (editor Paul Glancey discusses this and more in an interview at Mean Machines Archive).
Issue 2 of MegaTech, dated February 1992, can be found at Out-of-Print Archive, where you will also find the full contents of the issue, editorial info and the download link. Accompanying this issue, the following online articles were chosen: Gaiares (Mega Drive reviews), Sol-Feace (Mega-CD review), Mega-CD (hardware feature) and Rolling Thunder 2 (Mega Drive review).

This is actually a little old, but the site's been down the whole time...
Just to keep the 32X homebrew scene going, here's a quick port of xrick - the cross-platform (SDL) Rick Dangerous clone. This is the full game done for the 32X; personally, I think the Genesis version released earlier is a lot more impressive since you're pushing the system, while it's barely straining the 32X. As usual, it includes the code for those who wish to make changes or just see how it was done.
This runs on emulators or real hardware, but as with my other stuff, it uses DMA for the audio, so the audio may not be quite right on some emulators.
Controls
UP = Jump/Climb Up
DOWN = Crouch/Crawl/Climb Down
LEFT = Go Left
RIGHT = Go Right
A = Action Button - hold A and press a direction
A + UP = Shoot Gun
A + DOWN = Set Dynamite
A + LEFT/RIGHT = Jab with Stick
C = End
START = Pause/Resume
X = Mute
Y = Volume Down
Z = Volume Up
MODE + X = Cheat 1
MODE + Y = Cheat 2
MODE + Z = Cheat 3

Al Qaeda extremists plotted terrorist attacks in 2002 using explosives and detonators hidden in SEGA cartridges, according to a new Wikileaks report.
Guantánamo Bay inmate assessment documents dug up by the infamous whistle-blowing websiteand published by the New York Times explain how alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammedhad stockpiled bombs hidden in "black SEGA videogame cassette cartridges".
"Detainee discussed remote-controlled firing devices (RCFDS) which were found during raids in Karachi in September 2002," read the record, spotted by Game Set Watch.
"These RCFDS were built inside black Sega videogame cassette cartridges to protect the RCFDS and to make them appear innocuous."
Another Guantánamo inmate Hassan Mohammed Ali Bin Attash was apparently shown how to make remote detonators out of the game cartridges.
"The detainee stated he traveled from Karachi, Pakistan to Quetta with three to five Sega cartridges made into remote detonators," reads his assessment. "The detainee stated he delivered the cartridges to two Afghan males."
There's no indication in the reports as to whether devices such as those mentioned were ever used in an Al Qaeda attack or what any possible targets may have been.

The Nineties and Noughties clash in upcoming adventure, marking the hedgehog’s 20th anniversary
Long-running franchises often talk about revisiting their roots, but Sega is taking this to a whole new level with Sonic Generations.
Due for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year, the game puts players in control of two versions of Sonic: the classic 1991 vision and the slimmer, taller modern day version. Each will have their own abilities, whether it’s old Sonic’s Spin Dash or modern Sonic’s Homing Attack.
Similarly, the gameplay will mix the styles of ‘90s side-scrolling platforming and the more open, 3D sections seen in the latest games. The game is due for release this Christmas.
“Sonic Generations will certainly be a fitting celebration for Sonic’s 20th Anniversary,” said David Corless, Sega’s global brand director for Sonic.
“By having the classic 1991 Sonic that many fans know and love team up with his modern day incarnation, we are bringing back the nostalgia of the early days of Sonic and combining it with the innovation and stunning HD technology of the modern gaming era.
Sonic Generations will bring to life the last twenty years of Sonic’s universe in a truly unique and imaginative way.”

I have a debt to release the latest release candidate of DCaSTaway for Dreamcast (only released for Dingoo-A320), but I need some time for coding Dreamcast SD-Card support and fix the STOP bug of FAME that delayed UAE4ALL release.
The news:
- Dreamcast SD-Card support for savestates and diskchanges.
- Latest Dingoo-A320 new features: Fast load/save savestates with Start+L/Start+R, better sound and more compatible with MFP interrupts.
- Uses latest FAME Motorola 68000 core: more faster and accurate.
