My latest release, v1.1b5, now adds support for SDHC (High Capacity SD cards). Seen cheap 4GB and 8GB cards around? Now you can use them.
To use, copy the MDBIOS.BIN file to the NEO2 Ultra Menu directory on your harddrive (overwriting the file there already). Run the app, go to the Format tab and do a fast format.
On the MD, press START once and you'll be on the USB link screen. Press START again and you'll be in the SD card browser. Press START yet again to get back to the Flash browser.
The SD card browser supports BIN and SMD format roms. Navigate over a rom name and press A for options, B to run with the reset mode set to RESET-to-Menu, and C to run with the reset mode set to RESET-to-Game.
The options screen allows you to set the reset mode, the save ram type, the size of the save ram, and the save ram bank. The flash has all that handled by the Windows menu, but when running off the SD card, you don't have any of that, so the options screen provides you a way to set that extra info.
One of these days, I'll write up a readme for this.
01/03/2010 - v1.1b6 released. Now with readme!

News via http://www.retroactionmagazine.com/
The first issue of MEGA has been released at Out-of-Print Archive. The October 1992 edition of the Mega Drive magazine was scanned, edited and released by Nreive (yes, this very author). MEGA is one of my favourite classic gaming magazines and I intend to have the whole run of issues online sometime - in between editing/designing retroaction, of course. The magazine scan archive can be downloaded for free from the link on OoPA's MEGA issue 1 page. Accompanying online articles include reviews of NHLPA Hockey '93, Speedball 2 and Thunderforce IV plus a feature/interview with EASN's Don Transeth.

Newly released today:
After months of waiting, Sonic the Hedgehog has finally arrived with his friends Tails and Knuckles. These are not mere Sonic toys, they are the vinyl figures created by First4Figures, known for crafting realistic figures and statues from high quality polystone.
Although the materials are different and the sizes are much smaller, you can still see the vivid posture and careful sculpting.
Sonic, like always, is challenging everybody around to a run. So, come take up the challenge, catch him and take him home.
Tails, Sonic's sidekick is grinning happily, his double tails prepared to spin and propel him to the air. As opposed to Tail's friendly disposition, Knuckles stands up straight with balled fists, showing you the sharp pikes on his knuckles. This power character only need to stand still to inspire awe.
The three vinyl figures have arrived, crafted in the classic Sony games fashion. Build your own game stage in your display case with these three players:
Sonic The Hedgehog Series 1 - Vinyl Figure: Knuckles US US$ 12.90
Sonic The Hedgehog Series 1 - Vinyl Figure: Sonic US US$ 12.90
Sonic The Hedgehog Series 1 - Vinyl Figure: Tails US US$ 12.90

New for v1.1:
Now can be used as CD BRAM!! I included the SCD_SRAM.BIN file as it's nothing but 0xFF04 repeated over and over. Copy this file to the SD card (or burn it to the flash). When you "run" this file, it'll switch the cart into CD BRAM mode, giving you 2045 blocks of save ram for the CD!!
Has better recognition of files on the SD card.
Will recognize and load SMD format files from the SD card (not the flash).
Will auto-boot an Enhanced Menu from the flash - this will be how we move to a larger, more sophisticated menu in the future. I didn't care for a two-stage menu, but it seems that's where we're going. You can also run the Enhanced Menu from the SD card, but it won't do it automatically. What this means is that this menu is nearing completion, and any further enhancements will be in the Enhanced Menu, not this menu.
12/18/2009 - v1.1b1 released
12/19/2009 - v1.1b2 released
12/24/2009 - v1.1b3 released

News via http://www.senileteam.com/
An e-mail about this was sent to all affected customers by redspotgames over a week ago, but since a lot of people seem to have missed it I'll explain the situation here as well.
To quote myself:
Roel wrote:
You remember how the Deluxe Edition could not be shipped in November because the factory didn't have the correct parts? Well, in December they sent the whole batch of CDs to redspotgames. To speed things up, redspotgames had already prepared everything up to the point where all they needed to do was put the games straight in their cardboard boxes and send them off. The CDs were delivered to redspotgames, who then changed the status of the orders and were just about to make every customer happy... when at the very last moment, they discovered that the games were not properly manufactured and had to send them all back to the factory! So now we're waiting for proper ones to arrive from the factory, again.
Although neither redspotgames nor Senile Team was at fault here, we have been looking into the possibilities of arranging something extra for all affected customers (that means everyone who pre-ordered before the incident) to make up for the long wait. But I can't tell you what it is yet, because it's a surprise.
So there you have it. The curse of the indie Dreamcast dev strikes again.

An intrepid Sega fan going by the name Bacteria would like you to see what he's spent the last four months building: a portable Sega Dreamcast -- complete with a built-in VMU (Visual Memory Unit, should you have forgotten). Called the IntoDream, the handheld is actually comprised of some non-Sega components, specifically a 5" LCD screen for the PSone and ... a third-party N64 analog stick? The full specs are listed on his blog.
Bacteria says the rest of the buttons and innards came from a PAL Dreamcast console, and that it "was primarily made to play Quake 3 and also Unreal Tournament on the Dreamcast, and it does it very well indeed." Just not for long -- the IntoDream's six amps of battery juice powers the device for just over two hours on a single charge. Still, for such a commendable custom carry-along, you take what you can get, right?
Check out two videos -- one a making-of, the other of the IntoDream in action -- after the break. Oh, and in case you're wondering, it's not for sale.

My latest menu for the Neo Myth flash cart for the SEGA MD/Genesis is now available.
This menu shows the info for the rom as you select it via the DPad, so C has been re-purposed. Pressing C now runs the rom with the reset mode set to Reset-to-Game. B still runs the rom with the reset mode set to Reset-to-Menu.
I took out the sync to vblank in the progress bar, so the progress bar flickers, but loading is faster.
I fixed the issue with selecting SRAM in games. If you wish to override the save ram settings set by the Windows app, select a game, press A, and use the options to set the save ram type, size, and bank.

News from Runik:
Well, the title is maybe a bit strong, but this processor is a really complex piece of work ...
The disassembler is done, the interpreter skeleton is ready, and I'm done coding the Operation commands (24 opcodes).
I'm now working on the Load Immediate commands (11 opcodes), DMA, JUMP and LOOP commands will follow shortly (I hope )
Understanding how the opcodes really work is difficult, mostly because of poor / erroneous documentation, and I won't be able to test anything until every opcode (and the main loop) is coded ... Timing must also be taken care of, as DSP clock is only half of the main SH2's ... so there's still a lot to do until I can get any sound during the logo assembly
I've also started toying around with various UI libraries (finally ), and I think I'll chose Juce for the next UI overhaul ... primary testing with OpenGL gave good results, I'll have to fire up my image creation software to create some nice icons (ph34r my mad Gimp skiils ) I'll try to post some screenshots when I'll have something more tangible
Until then ... have a nice day !
