Ken Soohoo, President and CEO of Planetweb, Inc. has reinstated the entire dreamcast.planetweb.com site after getting a mass of e-mails in support of the site.[br][br]For those who don't know, this is the web portal that the planetweb browsers access when first entering the internet via Dreamcast.[br][br]The site has VMU downloads, tools for Dreamcast owners, and more.[br][br]Check out tools.planetweb.com as well for a neat script that allows you to upload a VMU file from your VMU to any FTP site. There are many other tools, including one that lets you create webpages from your Dreamcast.[br][br]Like many others have said, you don't know what you have until it's gone. Thank you Mr. Soohoo for listening to the Dreamcast fans and bringing back a little bit of what the online Dreamcast experience used to be like.

The site i started then handed over the the very capable hands of Captain Skyhawk and LyonHrt is now 3 years old, heres the newspost from the DCEvolution Newspage [br][br]Yes, today DC Evolution is exactly 3 years old. We had a very active succesfull year with many releases, a redesign and a relaunch, time for a lookback in a 3 years of DC Evolution overview here.[br][br]Today is also the day that the new design is perfected with a complete rewrite of all pages. On the first sight nothing is noticeable, but the complete site is now completly php based, loads faster and... is 99% Mozilla compatible!

Da Mad Fiddler submitted this news to me:[br][br] It is with a heavy heart that I report to you all the recent, sudden passing of Mr. Deem Bristow on the night of Saturday, January 15. [br][br]Mr. Bristow's name most likely goes unrecognized to most of you, as is the unfortunate case with most voice actors (and not only in the game industry). But, as I said, those of you who are Sonic fans will surely miss him; he has been lending his considerable talents to the character of timeless series villain Dr. Robotnik/Dr. Eggman since the series' characters first started talking, way back in Sonic Adventure. I know I can at least speak for myself when i say that I've really enjoyed Mr. Bristow's take on the evil doctor, and that his work has always particularly stood out to me while playing through all of the recent Sonic games. [br][br]The exact details aren't known to me (and are probably better left unsaid here anyway), but what I can say is that on the night of his death, Mr. Bristow suddenly collapsed at a singles dance and died shortly thereafter at Sharp Hospital. [br][br]Here at GAF, our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Bristow, who is survived by his mother and sister. He gave a wonderful voice to one of gaming's most well-known, appealing villains, and his work will be missed. [br][br]Update: Though we currently don't have a full list of Bristow's works on our site, you can see what we believe to be a fairly complete list at IMDB. [br][br]Source: The Ruins of the Fourth Wall, North County Times [br][br]Related Links:[br]http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4230[br]http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0109941

Another Sega News item from GI.Biz [br][br] Take Two Interactive has taken over complete control of Sega's sports game business, with development studio Visual Concepts changing hands for $24 million as Take Two signs an "exclusive" deal with the MLB Players Association.[br][br]Formerly an internal Sega studio, Visual Concepts and its subsidiary Kush (which is also included in the deal) developed the entire ESPN range of games for Sega, which is now published by Take Two.[br][br]The sports sector has been difficult for Sega for some years, however, and after handing over publishing rights on the titles to Take Two last year, it has now bowed out of the market entirely - selling off Visual Concepts for the low $24 million price after EA threatened to extend its dominance of the market by signing exclusive deals with the NFL and ESPN.[br][br]The company's only remaining interest in the sports field is its long-term development partnership with London-based Sports Interactive, creator of the successful Football Manager and Eastside Hockey sports management titles.[br][br]The move is one of the first to be made by new Sega of America CEO Naoya Tsurumi, who said that the ESPN range "has not been a key profit driver" for Sega, and said that despite recognising the strength of the franchise, "[Sega] must remain committed to growing content that will help boost revenues across all western territories." [br][br]Read the rest at the link above.

News from Games Industry.biz [br][br] Japanese publisher Sega has announced that it is to combine the management of its Western subsidiaries under a single chief executive, with former Sega Europe COO Naoya Tsurumi taking over the role.[br][br]The new structure is designed to encourage closer collaboration between the European and American divisions of the company, and Sega hopes to build its Western market share by integrating the development and acquisition of content across both territories.[br][br]With Tsurumi moving into the CEO position in both Sega of America and Sega Europe, Sega Europe managing director Mike Hayes has been promoted to president and COO, while another Brit, former LucasArts president Simon Jeffrey, takes on the same role in Sega of America.[br][br]"Integrating the management of our US and European organisations will allow Sega's Western regions to aggressively develop and pursue products that appeal to Western consumers," according to Tsurumi.[br][br]"As we prepare Sega for next-generation hardware, this unified organisation will better position Sega for growth in these markets," he concluded.
