Rockin'-B, posted in our forums here :
<blockquote>
After over 3 years of no releases for the SEGA Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit, here are two brandnew VMU demos:
Tiny 3d Engine (vms, vmi, dci, source, video #1, video #2) for VMU is the first and only realtime wireframe 3d engine for VMU.
Shenmue Goodies 2 (vms, vmi, dci) is a B-movie showing hundreds of Shenmue 2 character images taken from the secret Shenmue Goodies 2 website.
Furthermore I added 2 more great homebrew VMU games to the VMU downloads page:
space invaders (vms, vmi, dci) and
idoudo (vms, vmi, dci) from Rednuht 2000.
Both games were released long ago, but they were missing on my website.
You can download all 4 VMU games via Dreamcast browser directly (select vmi), too!
Grab out your VMU and enjoy,

We already told you that there was going to be new Licensed by Sega TV Game System and a New handheld that will play those games too although the full details were a little vague, well Mike of Asian Toy Source gave me some more details:
<blockquote>It is Sega after all...and great games are available. 7 Sonic games, 5 Alex Kidd games, 2 Phantasy Star games, and a whole lot of others! Total are 48 games available up for license right now, and there will be 10-in-1 and 20-in-1 systems only, so several consoles to be had. As you can see, our designs are quite attractive, and we're allowing distributors to have their own console systems designed which takes about 45 days for the mould toolings to be done. Should be available to market in April, and we're actively seeking distributors world wide right now.</blockquote>

The Makers of PSPonTV (PSP to TV Adapter) sent me some rather interesting news earlier that isnt on their website, heres the info from the email/press release:
<blockquote>First, the most exciting thing to happen this year for us may be the SEGA licensed TV game systems. We hope you are equally excited, and that you will try to secure an agreement with us ASAP.
SEGA LICENSED DIRECT "Plug & Play" TV-GAME
Since the HK Toy Fair finished, we have finalized the official license from Sega to manufacture many Sega licenced TV game systems and a hand-held console (like Gameboy).
Until now, we have nearly 50 licensed Sega games that you can choose from! Many of them are Sonic the Hedgehog and other big name titles! Our product design is done by a famous Japanese product designer, and resembles the Sega & Sonic style outlook. You will be quite impressed by our current in-house designs.
You can choose from either 10 in 1 or 20 in 1 versions of the "Plug & Play" Sega TV Game systems.
This means you can get the list and choose 10 or 20 games to put inside each game console. You can do less than 10 but the cost would be the same as 10 games. But for example, you can create a Sega Sports game system just for sports games, or a Sega Sonic game system just for Sonic games...however remember the price stays the same for 1 up to 10 games.
Please see the attached photo "thumbnail" of the clamshell packing, so you can have an idea of the quality for our in-house designs. Anyone wishing to sign an NDA, are welcome to view our full size in house designs immediately.
You are welcome to discuss your own tooling design with us, as we will be happy to do the custom tooling or you can accept our in-house designs which are also very attractive. We can offer some exclusive designs and configurations for many countries, so you are welcome to ask for exclusive distribution of our designs if your company has large enough sales channel to support the exclusivity.
You are welcome to request a quote based on your estimated quantity order, and the 10 or 20 game systems. The retail price should likely be up to US$29.95 for the 10-in-1 game systems, and up to US$39.95 for the 20-in-1 game systems, but this is up to your market to decide.
We are developing a Sega hand held system also (like Gameboy), which will contain 20 games of your choice and have a high quality 2.5 inch LCD screen. For an additional cost, we can create a cartridge based version as well, so you can have 20 games inside plus sell multi-game cartridges also. Due to some exclusivity being discussed for some countries already, please rush to tell us ASAP if you wish to order the hand held console system for your country. Our in house design for the Hand-Held system is similar to the Sonic design of the plug-and-play TV game system, so you can expect it to be very attractive design.</blockquote>
So it seems that Asian Toy Source are going to make a new Sega Hand Held System that will play 20 game cartridges. This is going to be an interesting year for Sega fans.

News From Dreamcast Scene
A Depressing day for all dc online players F355 Challenge Passione Rossa has officially gone offline for good. The Following are the words from the official website. ''"Notice for Terminating "F355 Challenge" network service on Dreamcast. December 29, 2005'' Thank you for your continued support on Dreamcast software "F355 Challenge". We unfortunately decided to close network service of "F355 Challenge" due to technical issue. It will no longer be available on January 16, 2006 noon (Japan time). ''We really appreciate your long-term support on this service. We hope you keep enjoying "F355 Challenge" offline mode and other SEGA titles.'' There it is, in all its sorrow. A few say a written petition is absolutely necessary. “What do YOU think?”

Ya, it's about time. Sega of Japan have finaly added Rajirugi to their upcoming Dreamcast releases page. (You know, the page that suddenly stopped showing released for a few months and caused us all so much panic ) Anyway, there it is in all its glory. Hopefully they'll catch up with Under Defeat as well. Check it out here
Also, the cover art for Rajirugi has been released. Whether or not this is the cover art they are sticking with is yet to be said.

No!, it's Superman at DC Evolution!
To start off the 2006 releases, we're releasing a media image, this is a straight forward 'boot up and watch the classics' CD for your Dreamcast, the CD image uses DCDivX by Mark Dukette with the complete set of the very first Superman cartoons ever created. The animations can also be played on your PC - just burn the image and pop your CDR into your CD/DVD ROM drive and use Windows Media Player (or your favourite media player) to view the cartoons (you may need the DivX codec for your PC).
Superman (the character) was only 4 years old when the first of these animations appeared at movie theatres, the cartoons (produced as short films) were also the first cinematic incarnations of the man of steel, they are a must see for any animation or Superman fan.
The cartoons now reside in the Public Domain, we've gathered them all together, and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that all 17 cartoons have been made available in any format as a 'one file' download from any site.
For the site page, info, CD covers, and CD image download - go here: http://www.dcevolution.net/goto.php?id=69

This new Win32 GUI tool I´ve just released will help those who want to easily convert Dreamcast savefiles from .DCI, .VMI/VMS or plain raw saves to PlanetWeb´s .VMI/VMS format or Nexus .DCI format.
You're also allowed to edit the file's attributes like name, date, copy protected flag, etc.
As an added bonus, this tool allows to extract the VMU icons and save them as animated .GIF files, so they can be used in webpages.

News From Lik Sang
From G Rev, the developers of Senko Ronde and Border Down, comes a new seek-and-destroy helicopter shooter, Under Defeat. Powered by the Naomi board, the game is currently doing the rounds across Japanese arcades, and celebrating its popularity, has already been announced for a Dreamcast release on March 23rd. With both a range of projectile weapons to choose from and bombs to drop, you'll take on the forces of air, land and sea across five large stages.
In either single or two player modes, there's plenty of action here to get your old Dreamcast's heart pounding once again, and bring back fond memories of the days of Desert Strike. Finally though, don't forget Milestone's cel-shaded shoot 'em up Radilgy is also due out soon for the DC, expected on Feb 16th.

What a year for the DCEmu Homebrew & Gaming Network, the network expanded from the original Dreamcast site to take in all of my sites and then with the server problems we upgraded to a Vbulletin Forum and now the forums actually serve as news forums for all the network sites.
The community is expanding at a massive rate with a total of 20 sites under the network covering all these consoles
PSP
Nintendo DS
GBA Micro/GBA SP
Nintendo Gamecube
Xbox
Xbox 360
Dreamcast
PS2
PS3
GP2X
GP32
Nintendo Revolution
Tapwave Zodiac
Gizmondo
Nokia N-Gage
iPod
Retro Consoles & Gadgets
We also have some of the Homebrew scenes best developers hosted here at DCEmu:
Chui
PSmonkey/Nexis2600
GPF
We are a network of sites who post news about Homebrew, Development, Hacking, Emulation and the Commercial side of each console, we never ever take the easy road and post warez or host iso loaders etc, the quickest way to destroy a scene is to do that so we keep well away from it.
This year has seen the emergence of the PSP scene and our PSP News site has enjoyed so many releases to a new console that it has been staggering, of late the GP2X has took over the billing of the scene with the most releases but that could change at anytime.
We have over 18,000 members now and looking at the stats we had over 4100 online at one time and thats pretty damn decent, some of the scenes we cover dont see much activity but we follow them regardless.
In 2006 we hope and well with a nutter like me running the place, this network will get bigger and better and hopefully one day the legal Homebrew scene will be looked on more favourable than it has been in the past, we can but hope
Of course even though i do a heck of a lot of work id like to thank Martin64 for hosting me and my server killing sites (yeah we actually killed a server), also Soully and DS69 and indeed all the staff and mods at DCEmu and the members and helpers who make my job easier, a big thanks to you all, it has personally been a year with some great ups (this network) and some severe downs ( losing family members) but its great to come home and emerse myself in the Homebrew scene, a scene ive followed for 9 years or more (im forgetful), ive had some crackin arguments (yeah those are fun) and made some great friends but its all worth it overall, just remember though without the developers and hackers and i suppose in a smaller way newsposters and webmasters/mods etc you wouldnt have your scene, so its always worth trying to say things in a correct way even if you dislike their work or release.
Ok ive bored everyone to sleep and im drunk anyway but HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
