Its the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, and what is the perfect excuse for not going out shopping? A new Yabause release, of course. The new version has a few nice improvements to check out. Here's a summary of what's changed:
vdp2:
- Fixed a bug in software renderer with rotating backgrounds.
opengl video core:
- Added gouraud shading and mesh processing. This is not enabled by default.
software video core:
- Fixed user clipping.
gtk port:
- Added mouse support.
- Configuration dialog now displays key names instead of values. Also made it so each different configuration is saved. This broke compatibility with old .ini files.
windows port:
- Support for spaces in filenames when using CLI.
- Added mouse support.
- Added cheat search.
general:
- Added mouse emulation.
- Added de, es, it, pt-br and sv translations
- Support for "out of src" build.
- Fixed compilation for non supported platforms. For instance this should fix compilation on dragonfly bsd. Fixed compilation on GNU/Hurd too.
You can download the release here: https://sourceforge.net/project/show...ease_id=643996

News via DCIberia
Via EMU-Russia, we learned just pull out a new version of the emulator DC and Naomi Demul.
The list of changes:
- Plugins OGL1 and DX eliminated;
- Added debug version of the emulator. The debugger mode automatically activates the interpreter;
- Added opicón to launch plug-GPU and SPU in separate execution threads. In multicore CPUs can add an extra 20-30% speed. But using the SPU in this way can give unexpected results;
- Added function render-to-texture. REZ, RE: CV, CT, ILLBLEED and other games have a much better finish;
- Added racked smoothing texture. Ikaruga is how you should do;
- Fixed AICA DMA, improved synchronization of sound;
- Added new DMA for PVR2. Sonic Shuffle now comes to the game;
- Fixed bugs in GD-ROM DMA;
- Fixed the launch of games WINCO GD-ROM;
- Added option to turn on the DSP plugin SPU.

Those of you who have followed the homebrew scene for many years will have noticed the explosion of sites covering Homebrew News and this weekend in Spain our friends over at Dreamcast ES who are also among staff here at DCEmu celebrate 10 Years of the Dreamcast and importantly for Homebrew the begining of the first in my eyes mainstream Homebrew Console. The Dreamcast needed no modding to run Homebrew and is still alive today thanks to sites such as us at DCEmu, DC france, DCEmulation, DCEvo and countless others.
Heres a video from Dreamcast ES showing some of the best of Dreamcast.

The latest issue of GamesTM has a 29 page retro feature celebrating 10 years of the Dreamcast, it contains the history of the Dreamcast from it's Japanese launch to present day. Over at DCEvo we were approached by a journalist some time ago, we filled in a questionnaire and left it at that...
surprisingly enough, some of our comments were used within a homebrew section of the magazine feature, we even managed to name-drop Wraggster for creating DCEvo (thanks again bud), dcemu also features in the homebrew section, Chui in particular. The homebrew section misses out a lot of releases and in particular important coders within the scene, but it does show the scene is very much alive (if not kicking all the time).
General GamesTM readers have posted some positive reviews about the Dreamcast feature, here's the official magazine forum thread:

Never say die! SEGA's final console, the Dreamcast, lives on — and with Blu-ray. Ain't that a kick in the nards?
Tokyo PC shop Tsukumo has gutted the Dreamcast console and stuffed it with all sorts of stuff: a compact Sony NEC Blu-Ray BD-5500A drive, HDMI output, a Western Digital 160GB hard drive, and a MINIX 780G-SP128MB motherboard. The controller plugs have been turned into Flashdrive-friendly USB ports. It runs on Windows XP Professional.
Total cost to create this PC in a DC shell? Approximately a cool thousand bucks. It's on display at Tsukumo's main Tokyo retail stop. This same shop previously turned a SEGA Saturn into a computer as well.

Our good friend Ron who flys the flag for the Dreamcast Scene has released a new game for the Dreamcast, heres the details via translation:
Searching the Web I found something that could be the basis of MicroRacers that so many memory problems is bringing us.
http://ivo.danihelka.net/download/cars.tar.gz
This is a simple game of circuits to 4 players simultaneously if you connect a keyboard dreamcast, if you play with the pad 1 using the cross move the vehicle.
player1 = (SDLK_w, SDLK_s, SDLK_a, SDLK_d);
player2 = (SDLK_i, SDLK_k, SDLK_j, SDLK_l);
player3 = (SDLK_UP, SDLK_DOWN, SDLK_LEFT, SDLK_RIGHT);
player4 = (SDLK_KP8, SDLK_KP5, SDLK_KP4, SDLK_KP6);
The source is C + + and compiled in the Dreamcast thousand wonders. Another super fast SDL port for DC.

News/release from Dreamcast ES
Microbee is nothing more than a port of Nanowasp. An emulator for the system disk MicroBee 128k, a microcomputer popular in Australia in the early 80s.
Here is a quick port of Nanowasp SDL. This emulator was ported for at least 3 years by Quzar. This new port a little faster will allow you to use the CP / M 2.2 and several applications on your Dreamcast
His official site is: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nanowasp
To put it to work, just be getting to connect your keyboard to the Dreamcast and when the cursor appears, pulsais F11. F11 again to reset at any time.
With the command CP / M "dir" can see the contents of the disk and the programs are invoked by calling the. Com, such as basic, WordStar (was) or multiple (mp).

Dknute has posted a new version of the Dreamcast Emulator For Windows:
This time the package includes NAOMI emulator as well. And I've modified the code a bit, let's hope this will make the Data Execution Prevention exception go away.
Both executables can now reside in the same directory, but because of that there are some minor changes:
* Dreamcast BIOS/FLASH filenames must now start with Dreamcast_ prefix.
* NAOMI BIOS filenames must start with NAOMI_ prefix.
* The main configuration file for NAOMI emulator is now called NAOMI.ini
And yes, you still need to extract and decrypt any NAOMI games you wish to run from the GDI image. It's also possible to extract them from CHD files.
Remember to install the runtime libraries for MSVC 2008 SP1 if you get those silly "not installed correctly" errors.
Also, if you add "aniso = 0" to the Settings section it should disable anisotropic filtering. Not really tested.

It is the middle of the month of November, nothing is going on, so it seems like the perfect time for a new release of CrabEmu. CrabEmu 0.1.8 has many under-the-hood changes and bugfixes. Here's a look at some of the larger ones:
- Added preliminary support for the Terebi Oekaki drawing board (Mac OS X only, at the moment).
- Changed the VDP cache updating function to use a lookup table and other VDP emulation speedups.
- Practically rewrote the entirety of CrabZ80 to create a much smaller code footprint.
- Added a much nicer image to the controller preferences dialog on Mac OS X.
- Fixed color banding issues on the Dreamcast GUI.
- Added a 50/60 Hz selector to the Dreamcast port when a European Dreamcast is detected.
- Enabled stereo sound in the Dreamcast port.
- Fixed an annoying save bug in the Dreamcast port.
Oh yeah, the Dreamcast port finally runs full-speed (at least as much as I've tested it).
Enjoy the release, and be sure to report any issues that you may find. Download it here

Translated news from our buddies over at Dreamcast ES:
Due to problems arising from outside the organization these days we have seen in the obligation to seek a new location for the DreamParty. In the absence of physical time we have chosen to give a touch over the neighborhood and thanks to the LA Cafe CONDESA that makes its facilities available to us should be able to hold the DreamParty with total security. Many times these things happen and we repeat, it is absolutely foreign to our will.
When changing from local to celebrate the DreamParty and in the circumstances, it will not be NON STOP, but that from 2:00 AM to 07:30 AM, pemanecerá closed. We feel deeply that change last minute but for the moment we have no better alternative.
Thank you and hope you will not entail any setback in your plans.
Now is the time to announce so coveted that the next 28 and Nov. 29 will be held on the 5th MadriDC and DreamParty 2008 MadriDC. 10th Anniversary Dreamcast.

Yesterday was an exciting day. It was Rush Rush Rally Racing test day!
Although the test machine was a PC, it was connected to a television screen and fitted with Dreamcast controllers to make the experience as genuine as possible. With that setup and a roomful of players, we were able to collect a lot of useful data about many aspects of the game. The reactions were very positive, particularly about the gameplay and the soundtrack. The physics were said to feel impressively natural, and Ben (Senile Team's composer) was called a genius.
Of course some flaws were also found, but fortunately there were no serious bugs and we should be able to work our way through the test results relatively swiftly.
