Just because Sega shitcanned the Dreamcast, doesn't mean the company has forgotten. (We haven't!) The company still has a Dreamcast game page on its corporate site. And if you look very closely at this Sonic Unleashed screenshot, you can glimpse that magic enjoyment box. Dr. Robotnik has stellar taste in game consoles. He should be congratulated.

Goatstore Publishing have posted a letter to the Dreamcast scene, heres the full detals:
The Sega Dreamcast. It was, and is, an amazing system. To this day, a lot of people still declare that it was the last true "hardcore" system. I personally think that this has to do with the fact that the Dreamcast was the last system to be made by an arcade manufacturer who ported many of their arcade games to the system with spectacular results.
Since the initial release of the Dreamcast, the arcade scene worldwide has given way to new styles of gaming. Consoles like the Xbox 360 allow you to play 'arcade' games in the comfort of your living room and consoles like the Wii allow gamers to interact with games in a way that is new and unique. The Dreamcast really stood at an interesting turning point in gaming and what we were able to accomplish could have only happened like it did with the Dreamcast.
Everything done in recent years for the Dreamcast would not have been possible without the efforts of a small group of people known as Cryptic Allusion. Shortly after the release of the system, when the Dreamcast was still viable, it was reverse engineered to see what could be done with it; everything on the Dreamcast was borne out of an intense curiosity about the system and how it functioned. This group of people then set to work developing their own game demos for the system to see what it could do. Nowadays, between today's legal climate and the complexity added to today's consoles, it would be nearly impossible for the same thing to happen again.
The GOAT Store, LLC was lucky enough to be put into contact with these developers in a complete chance happening. At the 2002 Midwest [Gaming] Classic, a group of people came to show underground Dreamcast development. I took my disc home from the event and put it on a shelf, never intending to play it until I got a call from a friend who told me that the games on the disc were amazing and easily as good as some of the released games. I plugged the disc into my Dreamcast and was blown away...
These game demos weren't "homebrew" game demos like I expected; these games were fully realized 2D and 3D worlds with unique gameplay ideas that were unlike what we had seen elsewhere. We set about contacting these developers to try to bring their dreams into the real world as games, and had great success.
In 2003, the first GOAT Store Publishing title, Feet of Fury created by Cryptic Allusion, was released. Following this release, and after a huge series of legal wranglings, GOAT Store Publishing released three more titles in 2005: Inhabitants, Maqiupai and Cool Herders.
All of these games were developed and released with strict guidelines in place and the quality of the games speak to what these developers were able to accomplish with limited resources. This success was noticed by a multitude of people both fans of the Dreamcast and beyond. Some developers were contacted by large companies and offered projects from them to consider for mainstream systems. The International Game Developers Association asked me to write an article detailing the games and how they were made, and invited me to do guest speaking at some of their meetings discussing what we did, why we did it, and what the plans were for the future.
The future side of the equation was perhaps the most interesting. In 2006, we announced 12 titles that were in development which we hoped to release within the year. However, despite our optimistic view, the work done by our independent developers is not like a large firm where developers clock in and out for the workday; our independent developers are just that and work, usually at their home, on their own schedule. We do not have any way to ensure that a game is completed or released and external factors in many cases shifted the attention of the developers away from what they had planned.
In other cases, occasionally developers would bring us games that had fatal flaws -- the gameplay was'nt developed well, the game didn't feel 'complete', the controls didn't work -- whatever it was, we decided with our first release that if we didn't have 100% faith in the games we were releasing, we wouldn't publish games just to dupe the public into purchasing a game that wasn't exceptional. Even though this has limited releases, we genuinely believe all of our releases have all been held to a high standard of design and gameplay.
Speaking to the future, we will continue to uphold our high standards of level of design and gameplay ensuring each release is truly fun and enjoyable. With that in mind, I can't sit here and promise that we will have ten, twelve, five or even one more game ever come out. However, we do have a number of projects which are still in development by top notch developers right now and it is our hope the developers will be able to finish the games so they can be released. Going forward, we have learned that until games are ready to go to the presses not to talk too much about them. I only hope we will have the opportunity to tell you all about the wonderful things these developers were able to accomplish on this unique console.
We thank you for supporting the Sega Dreamcast and GOAT Store Publishing. We hope you continue to play your Dreamcast well into the future enjoying all of your favorite games. The Dreamcast truly is an exceptional system and perhaps it really is the last true 'hardcore' system. We are honored, and humbled, to have been able to add something to its legacy.
Dan Loosen
As always this network will help in any way we can, keeping the Dream and in that the Dreamcast Alive is what we want.

Twenty years ago today, Sega released in Japan what was to be the most successful console in the history of the company. While the Sega Master System had only really taken off in Europe, the Sega Mega Drive, later renamed the Sega Genesis for its North American release, took the western world by storm. While it may have stayed a distant third behind the Super Famicon and NEC's PC-Engine in Japan, in North America the console fought Nintendo to a standstill, and in Europe it consistently outsold all competition, cementing Sega's place as a top-tier console manufacturer...until they went and screwed it all up.
I didn't get my Sega Genesis until 1994, picking it up at a MediaPlay in Roswell, Georgia, mainly because it was bundled with the excellent game based on Disney's The Lion King. That system is still very much alive to this day, holding a special place in my heart as the first game console I purchased for myself as an "adult", sparking the realization that I could spend a massive percentage of my income on video games and still afford cheap frozen food, a practice I continue to this very day. Thanks a lot, Sega Genesis, and happy birthday!

The Dreamcast emulator for Linux has seen a new release, heres the release info:
This is the first version where we can say that most software should “just work”, outside of a small number of known issues - so please report any other problems you encounter. Note however that the focus of 0.9 has been on accuracy - performance has not substantially changed from earlier versions. That will be the main aim of the work for 0.9.1 “Speedy”, along with timing precision and a few other things.
What’s new
Improved accuracy + compatibility (aka many bugfixes)
Shadow volumes, render-to-texture, fogging
Light-gun support

Today we bring you an exclusive sure that you will like it. Homebrew a new game, and the good. Acompañadnos in this new game called ..... Divide.
Warning: The game contains adult material considered. It is your responsibility to play the game ... ^ ^ you are warned.
Divided is a game spent 2D / horror for PC created by C''s Ware in 1998 (10 years). The game is almost completely folded (Japanese) and contains scenes of sex (both in images such as voice) and scenes of gore quite strong. It also has a remarkable history and deep for the genus to which it belongs, and this is the main reason that has prompted us to port it and translate it.
Translations such order it has been completely rewritten for this game, and a port to multiple platforms (PC, PSP and even a version in FLASH ONLINE!) In addition to the Dreamcast version.
Features:
- A great conversational adventure with a touch of mystery and erotic
- The game is fully translated in English and Spanish. The version of DC could not incorporate the Japanese fonts from other versions.
- Allows you to save and load items in the VMU, and continue the process throughout the game.
- Images are displayed at the VMU of the characters.
- Operates at 640x480 and is compatible with the VGA.
- Music and voices of the original dialogues in Japanese.
More information and downloads:
We strongly recommend, visit the forum where you will find all Translations Such instructions for the game, all versions demeanor, and even artwork and cover art prepared (in the style of commercial Homebrew!).
- Web translation Divide: Link
- Forum Tales Translations: Link
- Post discharge Dreamcast: Link
Also the author's main port (Wiz) has released the source code and tools necessary, which I think is worth much punishment to take them The forum also find Tales Translations.
Flash version:
If you also are not convinced of the game, or you have mono, Wiz has been currado a peazo port to play the game directly over the Internet with Flash!
To play, just have to access this url:
http://dividead.tales-tra.com/play

Orochi_X let me know via PM on the Lavalit forums that a new version of Openbor has been released, heres whats new:
V2.2038
New Animations
Rise# , riseb , rises Rise animations are now dynamic. They also include riseb and rises for rising from a burning or shock knockdown attack respectively. If rise# is omitted , we default to the standard rise anim.
Blockpain# , blockpainb , blockpains - As above , but for blockpain. If blockpain# is omitted , we default to blockpain. If anim blockpain is omitted , we default to the old style of replaying the block anim.
chipdeath - If you have chipdamage enabled and you are killed whilst blocking , you can use this animation. Makes a nice "cheap K.O." animation! Defaults to the death anim that corresponds to the attack which killed the entity.
Entity Header Command
jugglepoints - The total amount of juggle points an entity has. Defaults to 0. Setting Jugglepoints to -1 will make this entity immune to juggles. See below for more details.
Attack Commands
jugglecost - If the victim is in the air and the attacker's jugglecost is equal to or lower than the victim's total jugglepoints , the attack will connect. If this happens , the jugglecost is subtracted from the victim's juggle points giving them a new (lower) total. If the next attack's jugglecost is still lower than the new value , that too will connect , lowering the total points again. Once jugglecost is higher than the remaining jugglepoints , the attack will not connect.
Defaults to 0.
OTG - setting this to 1 will allow an attack to hit opponents in their lying state. The default , 0 , will not allow an attack to hit a lying opponent , regardless of bbox settings.
Fixes and Alterations
Setting {nospecial} to 1 in a level header will now no longer disable freespecials. Also , I've expanded the option so that setting it at 2 will , infact , disable freespecials too.
Falling entities now have nograb enabled by default.
Single set mods now auto load that set instead of going through the rather redundant motions of selecting it.
Fix by DC - didhitscript now executes when item is collected (item is attacker, collecting entity is defender). Item scripting won't have to be nearly as hacky.

News via dcemulation.org
After some time, there's a new release of NetBSD for Dreamcast. The Dreamcast port was updated by DreamSNES author Marcus Comstedt. NetBSD 4.0.1 is the first security/critical update of the NetBSD 4.0 release branch. This represents a selected subset of fixes deemed critical in nature for stability or security reasons, no new features have been added. You can download NetBSD for Dreamcast at the official port website at http://www.netbsd.org/ports/dreamcast/ .
A ready-to-burn CD image can be downloaded from here
Below is list with all changes in this release:
Quote:
Security Advisories Fixes
NetBSD-SA2008-004, multiple issues (CVE-2008-1372 and CVE-2005-0953), has been fixed by upgrading to bzip2 to 1.0.5
NetBSD-SA2008-005, OpenSSH Multiple issues (CVE-2008-1483 and CVE-2008-1657), has been fixed by applying patches from upstream.
NetBSD-SA2008-006, integer overflow in strfmon(3) function (CVE-2008-1391), has been fixed.
NetBSD-SA2008-008, OpenSSL Montgomery multiplication (CVE-2007-3108), has been fixed.
NetBSD-SA2008-009, BIND cache poisoning (CVE-2008-1447 and CERT VU#800113), has been fixed by updating BIND to 9.4.2-P2. Note there are two related changes to this advisory:
The default behavior of ipfilter's Port Address Translation has been changed to using random port allocation rather than sequential mappings, to avoid decreasing the randomness of source ports used for DNS queries which affects the BIND cache poisoning problem.
A `query-source' statement, which could allow the BIND cache poisoning attack, has been commented out in the default named.conf(5) file.
NetBSD-SA2008-010, malicious PPPoE discovery packet can overrun a kernel buffer (CVE-2008-3584), has been fixed.
NetBSD-SA2008-011, ICMPv6 MLD query (CVE-2008-2464), has been fixed.
NetBSD-SA2008-012, Denial of Service issues in racoon(8) (CVE-2008-3652), has been fixed by upgrading ipsec-tools to release 0.7.1. Note this also fixes CVE-2008-3651.
upcoming NetBSD-SA2008-013, IPv6 Neighbor Discovery Protocol routing vulnerability (CVE-2008-2476), has been fixed.
upcoming NetBSD-SA2008-014, remote cross-site request forgery attack issue in ftpd(8) (CVE-2008-4247), has been fixed.
upcoming NetBSD-SA2008-015, remove kernel panics on IPv6 connections (CVE-2008-3530), has been fixed.
Note: NetBSD-SA2008-007 and advisories prior to NetBSD-SA2008-004 don't affect NetBSD 4.0.
Other Security Fixes

tcpdump(8): fix CVE-2007-1218, CVE-2007-3798 and CAN-2005-1278 in base-tcpdump.
Fix a buffer overflow of PCF font parser in X11 libXfont library (CVE-2008-0006).
Fix a buffer overflow of Tektronix Hex Format support in binutils (CVE-2006-2362).
machfb(4) and voodoofb(4): introduce two missing KAUTH_GENERIC_ISSUSER checks in the mmap(2) code.
Networking
Update root.cache to 2008020400 version.
Fix IP packet forwarding code to make sure to send a reasonable fragment size when IPsec is configured.
Fix a bug in TCP SACK code which causes data corruption.
Fix an rc.d(8) script for amd(8) not to shutdown gracefully since it seems to cause problems for more people than the old (also broken) behavior.
ftpd(8): fix and reorganize PAM support.
Libraries
Pthread support of BIND has been disabled for future binary compatibility after removal of the scheduler activations.
Fix coredump of gdtoa (conversion between binary floating-point and ASCII string) functions on out of memory conditions.
Drivers
fxp(4): fix random pool corruption and hangup problems.
wd(4): handle more LBA48 bug quirks on some Hitachi's SATA/IDE drives.
Miscellaneous
Disable a NULL pointer check in zlib for standalone programs. This fixes errors on loading a gzipped kernel (including installation kernels) on several ports (news68k etc.) whose kernels are loaded at address zero.
awk(1): bring back an accidentally removed fix to allow escape of a newline in string literals.
gcc(1):
fix compilation of native sh3 gcc on 64-bit build machines
fix an internal compiler error on compiling m68k softfloat or m68010 targets on 64-bit build machines.
zgrep(1): make `-h' option (suppress filenames on output when multiple files are searched) actually work.
Fix parallel build failure on building hpcarm, hpcmips and hpcsh releases.
Platform specific
acorn32: fix a bootloader problem on some RiscPCs.
cobalt:
add a workaround to avoid panic on probing a multi function PCI device on Qube's PCI slot

hp700: fix potential kernel / userland memory corruption in copyinstr(9) and copyoutstr(9).
sparc64: fix a bug in locore.s which causes unexpected behavior.
sun3: fix a bug which might cause an occasional panic during boot.
vax: make syscall handler use proper copyin(9) function on parsing syscall args.
