Sega has cut an unspecified number of US jobs as part of ongoing restructuring. Venture Beat received confirmation directly from a Sega representative on the matter, but specifics were largely withheld.
“As the gaming industry continues to evolve, companies must adapt and adjust in order to compete and succeed in an ever-changing environment,” the rep stated.
“As a result of this, Sega of America has recently undergone a restructure that will enable the company to focus efficiently on developing new and existing content across digital platforms as well as continuing to focus on key brands for packaged goods.”
Various sources are claiming that it was a small number of staff let go, but an exact figure is still unknown.
Sega originally began its restructuring plans last year, closing offices in Europe and Australia.
