GDEMU has had a news update, for those who need an update, heres more info, GDEMU is an SD card based replacement for the optical drive in Dreamcast console. Rhea is an SD card based replacement for the optical drive in Saturn console. GD-ROM / CD-ROM drives inevitably wear out and fail – as do all mechanical devices – and since the console is no longer being manufactured it’s nearly impossible to source spare parts. This project was meant to provide a “once and for all” solution, since it doesn’t have any moving parts.
Owners of my early GDEMU designs can now 3D-print, for free, a suitable tray for their devices that will replace the felt pads stack and make the whole assembly more secure. All this thanks to Michael Pica, you can download his plans from Thingiverse. There is also a tray for Rhea/Phoebe there – these things not only look neat but also prevent the SD card from falling inside the console during insertion/removal and can offer a small organizer too.
